I am the worse GLR manager...

Let’s just say that my ability to develop GLR is very poor. After having the NAM for over 4 months I am just now learning how to use the drag GLR. My next question is what GLR stations to use? I have looked at the STEX and they usually are converters and I just need some good ideas which ones to download and the frequency to use them. Would you use them as often as a subway station, El Rail, bus station or train station? I am looking for some great replies to help get my GLR up and running 4.gif>3.gif>

projectadam...

Not sure what you mean by 'converters' but searching the STEX for 'GLR Stations' should bring up several possibilities. I, myself, like Cogeo's set, but that's just me. Try some out to see what suits you.

A couple of points on this... Using stations created before the June 07 version of NAM will require the use of the NAM GLR Stations Patch to use them on the draggable GLR. The patch is available here. Be sure to read the Readme carefully as all of the patches are not necessarily needed.

As for placement, I don't place them as often as bus stops, more like EL Rail. I usually use GLR to connect residential areas to industry, making sure to have parking or bus stops nearby for access. Again, that's just me. There are probably as many good setups as there are players of the game.2.gif

Hope this helps some...

I use them like subways.

Make a GLR network at the beginning, when you plan the quarters. If you get more traffic later, you draw in a subway network.

The beginning of GLR was also the beginning of large terrain terraforming for me. You'll see that the terrain should be rather flat to make it look good.

Nevertheless it is very difficult. It might be not fair to name a particular station, as there are many great GLR stations available. But one station helped me a lot to establish my first GLR, as it was very easy to use, very functional, helped me understanding the function of GLR in general and came without dependancies. Here:

Leave a space of 1x3 tiles to set the station afterwards or simply demolish 3 tiles again to fill in the station. You'll quickly realize about the more detailed terms of use once your first trams are running.

After having set the station, select the elevated light rail tracks and pull them through the station (all 3 tiles). It will look like you demolish the station, but it won't. Almost all stations require this to be done. This ensures the station to be transit enabled, though it would even work without, forcing passengers to transfer at each station then. (Just keep this information in the back of your head).

Let me also give you this hint for an avenue roadtop GLR station without dependancies, which is rather hard to find:

Just download both, you'll find them in your menu, being able to finish your first GLR network.

I've been lurking for a while now, and I've finally come out of hiding to thank you for the replies, since this GLR stuff is a bit hard. Thanks... and  now off to try my GLR! Or continue lurking 4.gif
