wow, is this a realistic maxis city I see? Why it is! very nice work man, keep it up! My only advice is to go ahead and demolish abondoned buildings to let new things grow, =) other than that keep it up great work, cant wait for more!!! 9.gif

I know my CJ isn't the best so I thought I'd change the mood by showing some pictures of Wollongong.

I'm thinking about starting a new city! I've downloaded Pacific Heights thanks to tiwerick and I've changed the config file to only large sized cities. It's a little different to what I'm used to but I'm planning on using less Maxis forests and downloading more content.

How do people feel about giving up on regions? I suppose I can always come back to it later.

I need more people to tell me not to give up... If I continue with Ogdenville I'll be incorporating a rural highway!

It's already looking very good m8, you already showed a lot of improvement in the passed few updates, why would you stop this one? If you really want to downlaod custom content, than just fit it in this region, I'm sure it will be looking good. You'll improve even more as you did already in this CJ. Good luck m8 and keep up the good work5.gif44.gif

Most custom content you start off with is hard to deal with. But if you fool around with them and stuff they become a breeze. Don't give up this cj it's really doing well. Just a little more jobs and that's it...

    Newsbreak

The mayor of Ogdenville has released a plan to change the entire outlook of the city. A rural highway will be built to try and improve traffic flow. Elevated highways will be replaced with ground level highways. Forests are to be demolished and replaced with more attractive parklands. New suburbs will be zoned with more jobs. There is even a plan for a subway or a monorail system in the downtown area.

It is not known at this stage how long the radical change will take to complete but the mayor assures me that it will definantly be a change for the better.

Blue areas are planned as central parklands and red lines represent the new highway.

The mayor has informed me that these pictures are only a rough draft of what will actually be built. Suggestions from the public is highly encouraged.

The highway proposal sounds interesting. One thing I really like about your CJ, though, is all the trees, so hopefully too many won't be chopped down in the name of the untangling of arterials.

Go for it, abracadabraz85!  I would recommend the SFBT's Seasonal Woods. They are displayed well in my own Patrician Showcase. I like how you are incorporating the RHW into your cities.

For more about the RHW, you should look at Haljackey's Greater Terran Region and the Show Us Your Interchanges! thread. He has done some fantastic work, and others have as well.

I find sometimes that a complete reconstruction and massive improvement of a city or an entire region can help tremendously, even if you have to demolish a lot to do it.

Don't give up on Ogdenville - when it started it might not have been the best - but after your improvements it became a lot better. It is definetly one of the newer CJ's that have that classic "feel" to them.

I wish your region and it's mayor the best of luck.

I may have to demolish the rural highway. No one uses it and it takes up too much room.

Do take a look at Seasonal Woods, they add something different to the landscape, especially with the amount of trees you're planting - sure it takes a bit more time to make it look natural, but the result are great!

I think if you're connecting cities with rural highways, its best not to connect the same ones with the elevated or ground highways - that might help with the transit problem.
