After some two months or so away from Simtropolis, I'm gla to say that I now return with the second Alfington. After the loss of Alfington I, I've eben struggling to find the time to finally built the new one but I have and I think you'll enjoy watching Alfington as it changes from season to season. A reminder of Alfington:

Alfington is a small city on the western coast of Febosk, north of Melbourne and south of Fraserport. The city originated as fishing town beneath the headland of Savin Hill. The fishing industry gradually declined and was taken over by a rise in tourism. Many people from the cities of Melbourne and Brumingham escaped from the hustle and bustle of downtown life to come and spend time on the shoreline at Alfington. Much of Alfington was constructed during the late 1800s. A regeneration of the city was attempted to the north of the city centre in the 1970s with the construction of shops and clubs. As a result, there are two shopping districts in the city and the city has earned two parts - the Old City and the New City.

As a result of more people flocking to Alfington and an increasing demand for tourism, a motorway was built from Melbourne to Fraserport so people could travel from both direction. A major road was also completed in the late 1980s from Brumingham. In the neighbouring sector to Alfington, is the large town of Pocleston-on-Sea. The beach still remains here and the long promenade stretches for over a mile. This 'new town' was constructed from what was a small village of no more than 2000 people. Where Alfington is a relatively low-rise city, Pocleston-on-Sea is known for its tower blocks that can be seen from all round. This is just one of clues for a boom in population in the 1970s.

Alfington, being a smaller community than most other cities in the country also has one of the lowest multicultural populations. Most of the residents of city are Feboskian in origin. The very few foreigners have settled nicely with jobs.

Alfington, sitting on the northwest coast of Febosk, is only a short ferry ride away from the east coast of Bevelle, some 45-50 miles.

Population (2007) 91,334
Mayor Sir Don Caster
Ethnicity 92% Febosk

3% Bevelle

3% Georgiapolis

2% Tient

Council City & County
Elevation 9m ASL

Alfington's climate varies majorly between seasons. Winters are normally cold and dry with high snowfall due to northerly winds prevailing from mid-November though to the end of March. Spring and Autumn bear the transition between the cold of winter and the warmth of summer with high rainfally from frontal rain and heavy downpours. Summers maintain a reputation for being warm and sunny and mainly dry though heavy thunderstorms occasionally o

Wow looking so nice, glad to see Tient mentioned 3.gif. Anyway I cannot wait to see what you create and show, funny that not only your CJ came back today, but Tient will be coming back later today as well. Aflington Castle looks so nice, great work.

Nice town there yourself man. I'll follow along and you should drop in on the GRV now and again too. There is some real talent going on there. I'm planning on starting my own CJ this Summer when it heats up in Phoenix.

PhilsCafe - Thanks mate, my first replier of this cj! Hope you enjoy the upcoming updates.

kestner34 - Thanks very much for the support, glad you enjoyed my last cj and hope you like this one even more lol.

Amerikaner - Hey there. Well I feel as if I should mention Tient as it neighbours Febosk in the AU. There are many more Tientians in other cities around Febosk. Glad you like the castle.

Benedict - Yeah, I was waiting for someone to notice. Because I met a girl from Doncaster last autumn when my first Alfington opened, I used that mayor name and have kept it the same since.

dbranch - Thanks mate, hope you do. By the way though, what's the GRV?

Callbat - Well I thought I'd start again on the first of a month so I did. Hope you enjoy this Alfington too my friend.

The Big Z - Yes, I was very upset too but hopefully this one will live up to the standards of the last one. I have kept some little touches that were in the last Alfington cj.

bbfan02 - Thanks a lot mate, your comments are really appreciated!

Andronicus22 - Hey there. Yes that's right, and not only Dutch. Glad you like it.

edmonton_stinks - Hello again, yeah, I missed the old Alfington so I thought I'd start again. It probably looks similar because I have used the same 'Welcome to Alfington' picture in this cj as I did with the last cj.

connorc24 - Thanks my friend, I hope you'll like it. Hope to hear from you again.

A view of the City Centre, 23rd July 2007

This update will show the main important tourist attractions that all travellers to Alfington come to see when they visit. The Old City itself is one great big National Historical Landmark dating back to the early 1400s but there are gems found all over the city that one can see. These following pictures have been taken by Alfington Journalist: Carl Sunder on a morning in August 2007:

    02.jpg

    Alfington Cathedral

The Cathedral was built between 1473 and 1501. There was a delay in the completion due to a severe lightning storm in the autumn of 1485 knocking down the eastern most tower of the Cathedral. At first this was St. Augustin's Abbey and didn't become Alfington Cathedral until 1664 when the Royal Charter was signed and Alfington claimed city status. The Cathedral currently holds a pretty central location in the city and before the construction of the City Courthouse, it was the highest building in the city.

    03.jpg

    The Maxis at Alfington

Maxis is a chain of theatres found in nearly all Feboskian cities. The Maxis at Alfington is the oldest of them all dating back to the last 1800s opening out onto Cathedral Square.

    04.jpg

    Alfington City Hall

The City Hall was finished in 1912. The site was originally occupied by the Guildhall but was demolished in the second Global War. After this was completed it acted as the seat of government of Alfington City and County and is now the home to the City and County Council too.

    05.jpg

    Promenade Park

    06.jpg

    The City Courthouse

The City Courthouse was the first rotunda building to be built in the north of the country and now provides a 360 degrees panorama of the whole city with rooftop views all around.

    07.jpg

    The Coastal Tramway

The tramway takes passengers a mile up and down the coast. This was once the fastest way of transport along the coast before the main road was completed in the 1960s. It now operates as a tourist attraction between April 1st and October 31st. It closes during the winter months due to harsh snowy weather and the tracks are too dangerous when icy.

    08.jpg

    Alfington Central

The train station is a relatively new addition in comparison to most of the city's buildings. It services the West Coast Railway and is often the first place one sees when travelling to Alfington. The funny thing about the station is that this kind of building is one that someone is more likely to see along the south coast of the country, not fur

Nice shots! The brick paths look great next to the identical textures of the roads and some of the buildings. I noticed that you used a few Maxis ones in Alfington. But they aren't out of place, I think some of them, especially the Maxis theater and the City Hall buildings, fit in very well with the CC you have used. Also, that bridge looks excellent! Looking forward to lots more of the same.

Yep, looks like the old one. Stuff is probably in different places, but since you used the same style, I feel quite familiar with it. Well done!

Wow, that looks excellent! It is so realistic! I like the rock that is in the middle of the sea walls in the first picture.

Great work my friend, OneTient our national high speed rail is interested in begining service to major Fesbok cities via Nantes. Anyway your last update was so amazing, I really loved how it all looked and you mish-mash of all the different kinds of buildings looks so nice, great work on that. Your inner city housing also looks really neat, and I am in love with the cathedral. Anyway nice work cannot wait to see more.

NMUSpidey - Thanks mate, glad you like them.

feliwi - Thanks mate, plenty more to come too.

connorc24 - Don't hold your jaw there too long, if it gets stuck I'll get a topnotch dentist to dislocate it again lol. 3.gif Thank you very much, I'm glad you like them. The city maybe look a bit different today though!

ky72x - Thank you very much for all your comments my friend. Glad you like them, it's hard to contain myself when putting Maxis buildings in certain places. hehe

Dsrwhat316 - Cheers my friend, thanks for the welcome back! Glad you like the plazas, they don't half take up valuable city space though.

    nottheboss - Thanks very much!

edmonton_stinks - Thanks mate, it is quite similar, then again that's probably my building style for you and I tried to keep the theme as near as what it was last time too.

Callbat - Hey there, thank you, glad to hear they're being read hehe.

bbfan02 - Thanks my friend, I wondered if anyone would point that out. That's just one bit of coastline that won't level out and become straight for the builders to finish the seawall so they've left it for trees to grow on.

Shingure - Cheers mate, hope this one is as good as the other one in your eyes.

Schulmanator - Hey there my friend, you're in luck. Plenty more to come, thanks for the kind comment.

Benedict - Thanks very much, I prefer it that way instead of having distinct boundaries between neighbourhoods. It makes for an awkward looking city and can look very strange from aerial view.

Amerikaner - Hi, that would be great. You could open up a service from Nantes along the west coast of Febosk down to the south coast. Anyway, thanks very much, glad you like it so much. I can only thank haarlemergold from making such wonderful BATs!

MONDAY 3RD MARCH : Heavy Snow, 1C (Max) -4C (Min)

Update 2 arrives with some of winter's worst! It is March now and the spring flowers are about to bloom, the sun is getting that little bit stronger and daytime temperatures on the rise. Not today they're not. It's been a very wintry old affair across the whole northern half of Febosk and Alfington has born the brunt of some of the worst. The Feboskian Met Office reckon next to Thursday-Friday 11th January this year, this storm has been the worst this whole winter. Just when the citizens of Alfington thought the weather has eased, the storm returned, backtracking towards the west bringing blizzards all afternoon. Some parts of Alfington are now without electricity!

The weather is forecasted to improve tomorrow with milder air funnelling up from the south with the onset of rain by Friday.
