Marshall... Alamosa... Holy crap! That game is insane. Even the goalies got in it Its bad when there are more game misconducts than goals.

lol I think I got carpal tunnel syndrom typing the Game Misconducts........ the total PIM's for that one were in the 120 minute range per team and it all took lace in the last 5 minutes of the game basically you almost had the old fasioned bench clearing brawl but luckily only Downie jumed the boards enjoy writing that story

look at Pawtucket from the Cellar to almost in the Playoffs we're almost halfway through the year and it's starting to sort itself the Orr confrence has all but stabilized the Cherry Confrence is so tight 1 or 2 losses and you could find yourself in trouble but 1 or 2 wins and you can cause trouble

The fall of a rising Star

If you ask me, Marshall's previous game against the Alamosa Kings was interesting in many exciting and interesting ways; the Stars, however, ended this game with a lot of bad news.  To start us off, bad news is the Stars lost to the Kings 3-2; with the recent shutout win by the Stingers, this places the two teams in a tie for sixth place in the league.  The really bad news is that Marshall has lost top Star Ilya Kovalchuk, who scored his first hat-trick of the season in his last game, for a few days pertaining to his face laceration.  Early in the first period, Kovalchuk did score a goal to kepp Marshall up and going against the Kings' 2-goal lead.  With just 5 minutes left in the game during the third period,Kings left-winger Martin Erat came right up to Kovalchuk as he was about to take a slap shot and cross-checked him hard in the face.  Kovalchuk will be out for a few days, but so will Erat.  After the hit, he received a game misconduct and will be suspended for three days.  The crowd actually started crying when Kovalchuk was hit... it was pretty bad, from what I saw.  He'll be receiving some stitches and is currently day-to-day.  The other interesting thing during the game was the resulting fights and game misconducts.  In total, the Kings received 5 game misconducts and Erat's 3-day suspension; the Stars received Kovalchuk's face injury, 4 game misconducts and another 1-day suspension for right-winger Steve Downie; he was quite furious and left the bench to join in on a huge fight that took place center-rink.  Stars' players were really mad at Erat and one player (Willie Mitchell) had almost reached Erat as he was leaving the rink, trying to punch him; the referees anded up stopping him and he also received a game misconduct.  Apart from that, both Stars goalie Chris Osgood and Kings goalie Chris Mason left the crease to join the fight in center-rink; both ended up receiving game misconducts and were replaced with their respective back-up goalies.  The Kings ended up outshooting the Stars by one shot, and with left-winger Zach Parise's slap-shot goal just minutes before the end of the third period against Stars backup goalie Maxime Oullet, the Kings (who remain tenth in the Bobby Orr conference) ended up winning the game 3-2.  Stars player Rod Brind'Amour claims this was one of the most active and exciting games he's ever played; that may soon change, however when the All-Star games begin; the host city and the time and date is still being decided, and the game will be hosted in the Don-Cherry Conference.  Brind'Amour will be available at the much-regarded all-star game, and I hope Kovalchuk will be recovered enough by then to participate.  All we can do now is wait.
