No kidding. College football needs a playoff system. These are two teams that have been in it nearly every year, and definitely don't deserve it this year.

Radio guys were talking about college football and basketball being polar opposites. College football has one of, if not THE best regular season in all of sports...but the absolute worst postseason...in the entire sports world.

College basketball on the other hand, has possibly the most pointless regular seasons in all of sports, but probably the most exciting and unpredictable postseasons.

That said, I'm taking OSU in this GAME...but there are much more deserving teams that should be playing for the championship.

Granted, with that said, I agree that the whole thing about the college football post-seasons are basically rigged. There are lots of teams that are fairly well deserving to go but never will because they're either in the wrong conference, or just get overlooked.

The matchups are awful. The rose bowl is more about the parade then the game. Hence illinois. Then teams that are good (BC) end up playing mediocre teams in bowl games (Mich St.) because they don't "travel" well. BC should have been playing illinois in a big name bowl game. two 10-3 teams from two BCS conferences, not BSC Bowl-worthy, but close. Instead we played a Mich St. team that wasn't of our caliber (they did bring their best and had a shot at winning though).

Main reason I want a playoff. Because my team doesn't travel well, anything less then an ACC championship means "Menieke Valero Southwest Airlines Blockbuster Sunshine Car Care Holiday International bowl"

You can't really say Illinois didn't deserve to be in the Rose Bowl. Illinois isn't traditionally a great team, but this year, nothing went how it should've. Bad teams were good, and good teams lost to crappy ones. Even LSU lost to Kentucky (!!) and Arkansas. USC beat Illinois pretty badly, but USC look at them. If there was a playoff system, USC would probably dominate. They only lost when Booty and a couple of their starters were injured. At the end of the season they got all of them back and would blow their way through the playoffs.

Add to that the fact that the Rose Bowl is usually the top Pac-10 team and the top Big Ten team, and the top Big Ten team was playing in the national championship.

Im realy tired of hearing all the complaints from teams who thought
they should be in the top game or didnt get a good bowl.
every one has the same rules to go by concerning how these things are determined.

USC: if you wanted to be in the Chamionship game please beat stanford a 40 point underdog.thats all you needed to do.
Georgia: Sorry you didnt even win your division of the SEC.

So stop complaining about the system then voteing to keep it in place because its financialy benificial to you.

football-illinois was 10-3. Georgia, easily the 4th best BSC team, behind LSU, OSU, USC, should have been in the rose bowl.

But the Rose Bowl is not about football. Its about money and parades. I love college football, but the whole Bowl system is incredibly eff'd.
