Diagonal Bridges??

Is it possible to drag a diagonal bridge.  To be more specific: a long diagonal bridge?

I'm trying to put the Oakland Bay bridge in the appropriate spot, but I can't seem to draw a diagonal bridge.  I can drag a horizontal bridge to  Treasure Island, but the bridge has to start in the Fisherman's Wharf.

Just wondering if there's may be a mod that will help drag diagonal bridges....

Hello rashasha and welcome to Simtropolis!

Well, concerning your question: I have to disappoint you, such a mod doesn't exist (yet) and I am pretty sure all of us had to face that problem... the only thing you could do is to raise the land properly that it just looks out over the water surface and then use the elevated highway or the NAM- pieces to give the impression as if it was the off- right angle Oakland Bay Bridge.

If you use the elevated highway you have the possibility to connect the road to a neighboring city whereas it's not possible with the NAM- pieces.

After having completed your work it gives the impression as if there was a bridge, at least in the region/ transportation view.

I am sorry that's the only advice I can give you, hope it helped.

Good luck building your bridge,

lucky7

PS: I'd be interested in the outcome so if you like just pm me.

further, you can download ploppable water to "hide" the ground visible after using the above mentioned technique.

this works best with jeronij's ploppable water (not the transparent one, but the old one) and pegasus' watermods.

or, but this would be more work and kind of eyecandy-only:

completely level up all water-areas until no more water is there, and then "fake" the water with ploppable water. this gives a smooth look, but on the other hand disables harbors, what wouldn't come handy in your special case of the SF's oakland bay bridge.

EDIT: oh, and I just recalled that someone else tried to make ploppable, diagonal bridges. it was a topic here on the ST, but I don't know if this project is still alive, nor I now the progress.

Well thats a bummer. I'll have to tinker around with it. I may use the "land bridge" idea and just put a horizontal bridge portion in it to allow for boats and ferries to pass underneath. I'll plop some water to make it look good. It should work the same.... just kind of a disappointment. I'm leaving today for the holidays and won't be home til the new year so I'll have to try it in a week or so....

    Happy Holidays!!!!

I heard the NAM team showed something on this at sc4d. Could someone clear this up for me?
