Richard (cleaner475) - The tundra terrain is quite plain, but then tundra is!  What I hope those pictures show is that the terrains in SCS each have a distinct character.  Not only is the ground texture different, but so is the light.  This aspect is very moddable, too.

bbfan02 - Thanks for the comments.

    Update

Nothing new for the story this time ... just some snapshots of Sleaborough.

    Sleaborough_24.jpg

Hmm ... two apartments in the same block catch fire at the same time.  I think there may be an arsonist at work.

Over the rooftops - from the town hall clock  to the towers of Prosperity Bay.

    The helicopter towers shot!

A conga line of people who live in a residential tower across the road from where they work.  Rush hour!  4.gif

Thanks for the comments everyone,  Sorry there hasn't been an update recently - getting ready for Xmas has been taking most of my spare time.  Still, now the presents are all bought, I'm stocked up with food and drink, and I can sit back, relax and enjoy the holiday.

And I can also update my CJ ...

The Arctic Llamas play a warm up gig in Myrtle Park.

    Sleaborough_64.jpg
The gig has finished, night has fallen and all is quiet.

    Sleaborough_65.jpg
Myrtle Park sits between the industrial area and the residential area known as "The Village".  There used to be rows and rows of workers cottages in that area, most were destroyed in WWII, but enough remain to make this area of Sleaborough feel distinct from the rest.

    Sleaborough_67.jpg
Worker cottages in "The Village".  This area is becoming increasingly popular.  Although the cottages have always been liked, lack of parking has always put people off.  Now that a subway station has been promised for the area owning a cottage in "The Village" is becoming quite trendy amongst young professionals working in Prosperity Bay.

The next few images giva an overview of some of the areas of Sleaborough.  There are still plenty of spaces for new buildings.

    Sleaborough_69.jpg

    Sleaborough_70.jpg
(Lots of work still to do in this area)

    Sleaborough_72.jpg
The poorest area in town - the boom following the building of Prosperity Bay has passed the people of Stokes Corner by.

    Sleaborough_73.jpg
This is Sleaborough's classical music venue, the Delius Hall.  This area is right next to Stokes Corner - very rich and very poor right next door to each other with all the friction that always brings.

Hope you enjoyed this update.  The next one will be sometime between Xmas and New Year.

In the meantime - have a great Xmas everyone.

    Edited to add ...

Just one extra little thing.  SCS had a problem with the way it handled modded files which meant that reskinned buildings didn't work properly - they couldn't co-exist with the original.  The patch released this week has fixed that problem so it is now possible to create reskinned versions of the supplied buildings:

    SCS_Skin_DS_01.jpg
Reskinned department store - the left hand one is the original Tilted MIll building;  the right hand one is mine (unfortunately the Simlish lettering is modelled so can't be replaced).

Yes. You'll find my stuff under the names rp2004, rp2005, rp2007 and zero7 - I didn't have much to do with Sim City in 2006!

I've already downloaded most of your BATs, and they are really good!44.gif

I especially love your tiny terraces, would you consider doing some tudor next? 48.gif

I don't know whether I'll be making anything else for SC4.  Whenever a new city builder arrives that is worthy of SC4's crown it will be full 3D, so I need to relearn how to create buildings.  I'm a high-poly modeller at the moment - for full 3D I need to learn to model less and texture more.

Unless Tilted Mill come up with a solution to the transit problems in SCS the next big city simulator is most likely going to be Cities Unlimited, but until that arrives I'll be using SCS as my laboratory.

I did make a couple of half-timbered buildings (if you haven't already got them) - the Elstow timber framed set  and the Star Inn, both as rp2005.

Great work on your CJ. A very nice looking city for sure. You take your time on the layout of your streets and make good use of the few Terrain tools available.

Just curious, how did you create the Newspapers.

    Keep up the great work.

The newspaper was created in Photoshop, but any paint package should be up to the job.  Layers make things easier to put together so Paint Shop Pro or Gimp would be decent alternatives.

anarchy0029, jacqulina - Thanks for stopping by.

"The Village". as mentioned before, was always expected to benefit from the building of a subway link, but no-one quite expected the revitalisation that has taken place.

Using the local charity centre as a base, members of the Village Rejuvenation Project have co-ordinated residents and business alike to renovate the area without losing its essential local character.

    Sleaborough_74.jpg

The Village charity centre and town square - an open space that occupies the site of the original village green.

    Sleaborough_75.jpg

Years of grime have been cleaned away and the cobbled streets have never looked so good.

    Sleaborough_76.jpg

Since the subway opened property prices in "The Village" have risen by 40%.  Gentrification of the area is inevitable - a factor that all parties will have to consider in the election.  The Village ward no longer guarantees the DIgnity party a seat on the council.

A final view of "The Village"
