I want to get SC4 to run in a window instead of full screen.  Any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks -

Hey thanks for replying but that doesn't seem to work. I tried holding down option then running the program and I tried hitting option after it was running. An option window never popped up.

It should be option. Hold it when you run the program until the option window shows up.

Hi all. I am a newbie to the forums and am also on a mac. Tried this trick but it didn't work. I am a bit behind in all this, I only have SC4...not the Rush hour expansion and have never downloaded anything from the site before. (I have to insert the disc to play the game...)

Does any of that matter when trying to play in window mode? I am on a G4 PPC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks so much!

That's what i wonder...I don't get a choice when I hold option. I can change the resolution, the 32 bit,  but there is no option to use window mode.

Looks like I am SOL. huh? I need to upgrade to The expansion pack, which seems to be the standard here anyway, huh?

To run the original SimCity 4 Mac (without Rush Hour) in windowed mode:

Go to ~/Library/Preferences/ (in your Home folder)

Open the com.aspyr.simcity4.plist file with plist editor or TextEdit

    Change fullscreen-mode to 0

    Change window-mode to 1

Sorry to resurrect an old topic, but it took me a while to figure this out on my own - The windowed mode checkbox does not appear in the original SimCity 4 using Option-key launch, but editing the preference file works fine.
