I'll ask this... how will they get this game out in a years time when these buildings look so awesome? It will take them ages. I'll expect this out in the first half of 09.

But those images look great. I'll readily upgrade my computer for this game. BRING IT ON! Imagine the feild day we'll have with custom content! 9.gif

As a joiner of 2003 I assume you do remember the proplems and bugs of Vanilla SC4 before Rushhour came out.

Actually I don't have any problem waitingsome month longer for CU if this will result in a stable and awesame game. In the meantime there's a lot to do in SC4.

Its a substantial improvement from the previous one (which is great) but still look kinda cheapish though. I'm sure it looks way better in the game.

Test of faith? I don't understand.

And I imagine Simtropolis will simply evolve to accommodate this game... as it already has begun to . 1.gif

Back on topic, I like those new screens, though I'd like to see more of an entire city instead of individual buildings. I particularly like that tower 44.gif

It will evolve and adapt like it has over the years to new things like BATs, SimCity Societies etc. I reckon mroe forums will probably spring up as well.

I believe he means whether you will be more lyal to SimCity or Cities Unlimited. I shall always stay more loyal to SimCity just probably will never buy societies.

The buildings look alot more realistic in CU. Makes SCS look like a fairytale land or something...

I find it funny that everyone's first reaction is that this is not going to run on their computer. As plasticboy pointed out, there's nothing that complex about these models; they're low polygon shells with realistic (as in, taken from photos) textures applied. But it doesn't take a very keen eye to notice some laziness on the part of the designers; the same textures are repeated all over the place-- especially in the windows. There's only a half-dozen or so distinct window reflections on that building... Now what will really impress me will be when someone figures out to make these things procedural; i.e. the window textures are applied randomly in the game. While you're at it, why not vary the number of stories in a building in the same manner. When the first screenshots of CU came out that's actually what I thought they had done, since it appeared entire floors were repeated in the building. But unfortunately it's just that, copy and paste, and not something deeper lying below the surface.

If you go on the CU website there is a video that shows how they make their buildings. They can do buildings in about 10 minutes. Of course, this is just the time spent doing the actual modeling, but it's still really impressive that they can go so fast. At this rate between now and 2008-09 they should be able to make lots of buildings. It would be nice to have variety right off the bat.

I guarantee it takes a lot longer than ten minutes. They have to model the whole building, not just one bit like in the video.

Hamster's right... my craptacular PC was built to run SC4 nearly 5 years ago... and not a single upgrade since. 18.gif

For me, purchasing this game depends on the minimum requirements... I'll likely need a new graphics card and some more RAM, but I don't want to do a complete overhaul.
