Seemingly unique problem...

I've been going back and forth through this forum looking for information, and can't find any info on my particular problem.  SimCity 4 won't save my display settings.  It tells me the settings will be in effect the next time I start SimCity 4, but then when I restart it, everything is back at the default.  Obviously, this means I can't tell if changing them will help my game's performance.  I have similar problems to what I've seen here--having a beefy Mac that should run SC4 just fine, but doesn't.

Another question I had was... that stupid police helicopter.  I built the building and sure enough, the dang chopper just keeps buzzing around my city, annoying the hell out of me.  Is there anything short of bulldozing the building that'll get rid of the stupid thing?  Also, it appeared that turning off "Sound" (as opposed to "Music") turns off everything, which doesn't make sense to me, but then again releasing a game and then not updating it so it'll actually run nicely doesn't make sense either.

There could perhaps be a conflict between your monitor's settings and your SC4 settings. I remember when I got my new monitor (from a 17" to an 18"), SC4 automatically adjusted itself to match the new monitor.

As for the helicopter, I'd love to know how to get rid of that stupid thing too.

How did you correct that?  Are SC4's settings stored in a folder somewhere that I can adjust manually and force the game to accept the changes?

I actually didn't correct mine. I just accepted the new resolution as I liked it better. But, and I'm guessing here, that if you adjust your monitor settings, the game might adjust along with it. Again, that's just a guess. My monitor is a little kooky anyway.
