Streets connecting to multiple cities

Is there a mod available that will allow me to connect streets to different cities, like I can with roads and highways? I've seen a few city journals that have streets covering multiple cities, but I don't know if they are connected or not.

I don't believe that this type of mod exists. It sounds like a good idea at first, but when you think about it, it could wreak havoc on your inter-city transit. Streets are primarily designed for intra-city transit, as these are light traffic thouroughfares. Streets have a very limited capacity, and wouldn't be suitable as a main artery between cities, and I think that this is why Maxis did not include streets in the neighbor connections feature. I realize that some of your cities will extend beyond one tile, but the automata is programmed to take the shortest route possible, and if that means using a street to get to work, instead of the Highway located a mile away, they will take the street. So, you wind up with only a handfull of people using the highway, and 1,000+ using the street. This is why they didn't include street connections in SC4, it wouldn't be feasable. You may, however, want to go over to the NAM thread and request something like this, if you want it that bad. I don't know how well the idea will be received over there, but its worth the shot. 2.gif

Thanks for the reply. I guess I could just make these streets into roads at the very edge of the city, and then back into streets again.

thats probably the easiest solution, do you not have any arterial Road in this place If it is for a farming area lets say, its probably best to use an arterial road (main road) instead of connecting everything by street. if its innercity, then i dont understand why you would want to. once again arterial is the way to go

Is there a mod to remove these ugly arrows on roads etc. when connected to neighbouring cities?

I'm interested in your thought, and made a mod you wanted. It worked fine. I may release it somewhere after enough tested.

This could be done with a street puzzle piece that was designed to be placed on a road, much like the old method of GLR neighbor connections.

A neighbor connection is not network specific, it is simply a neighbor connection, things like capacity, network types, etc. are all determined by the adjacent tile within the city. So all you need to do is have a way of creating the connection and then tricking the game into placing a street there.

If I had a blank street puzzle piece to work with, the modding of it is rather simple...though if someone were to make the puzzle piece, they probably have the knowhow to do the rest 2.gif

Regarding the arrows, all you need to do to get rid of them is replace the model of the arrows in the game with a blank LOD model, I think.

Now this is great. I can't wait for it to be released. Thanks. 4.gif
