You have what looks like a textures or props conflict.  That tree mod you "took out" probably had more files that you didn't get.  I recommend a proper review and purge of your plugins folder.  If that doesn't help, move all your plugins to the desktop, create an empty plugins folder.

Start putting your plugins back, one at a time until the problem occurs.  You should be able to figure out what to do  with the last plugin you loaded at that point.

that streetside mod has some dependencies for it to work, make sure to read the 'readme'.

edit: if you took it out, the trees will still show up on the sidewalk from my experience, you have to redraw the street again for the brown boxes/missing trees to disappear.

Well, didn't you back up your plugins first?  I am rather paranoid about casting things in concrete.

    i do have a backup.

btw: would there still be brown boxes on streets in other cities if you already took out the mod and you either created the city after the mod is deleted or you've never loaded the city in the span of the time from you got the mod to when you delete the mod?

I would become paranoid as well after reading your two posts of advice.

One: Tell the person with problems to have all the dependencies installed. That is what the brown box tells you.

Two: If the person who asks help has removed the "bad" plugin and still a problem exist, think about it for a second. Do you really know the solution? If not, refrain from answering. Now you have made the person do things that were absolutely not necessary.

Three: If you do not know how to use a tool, don't use it. The datpacker thingy doesn't cast anything inconcrete. It makes an extra file which you can use to let the game load faster.

When i look at teh date you joined, also as a moderator, I am amazed at the slopy way you answer people with real problems. Perhaps you should not try to help people.

Mikadri. The answer to solve the problem was already given so there was no need to post it again. The moose makes a rather nasty habit of giving faulty information to new members. Is that what you want? If so, have fun with it. I will post in any way I seem fit when wrong info is posted, especially by a moderator.

I do not give faulty information to new users or any users for that matter.  I suggest instead of flaming me, you could be more helpful to this member.

I am aware that the datpacker makes a backup, and when someone uses it, I assume he read the readme that comes with it.  If not, then that is a pity.

From the request, and the snapshot, it is clear that this member has texture problems.  I only try to diagnose what I see.  This problem has been around since yesterday and there are standard methods, repeated here over and over, for handling brown boxes.  Funny you should jump in now and take a slice off me.  Perhaps you should manage your anger some other way.

N_O_Body, a missing texture would never lead to a brown box, only a missing model does.

Ripplejet is very correct. Missing textures NEVER give brown boxes. You are missing a dependency. This is why the readme is included in downloads so you know what other files you may need. My suggestion is to read the readme...go download the correct files and those brown boxes should disappear.

You did give faulty information as it is not a texture problem but a case of missing models. Brown boxes indicate that the models are missing. Not a texture or props "conflict". You should ALWAYS direct a user to the Readme when brown boxes appear.

Regarding SC4DatPacker, perhaps your answer could have been clearer as it implied that you did not understand how the program worked. If you had your answer should have been to restore the original plugins as they are ALWAYS kept intact when using SC4DatPacker.

Finally with the street mods, you should know that you need to redraw the streets after removing the mod. As for zwaberaar, he answered more correctly than you did and you did  continue to give "faulty" information. It is NOT a texture problem and no brown box problem is EVER a texture problem but one of missing models. Something you should know by now.

Thanks for the clarification Barb.  I really did think that missing textures did that.  Well, you can even teach an old dog new tricks sometimes.  Apologies to all.  N_O_Body.

@ nobody. Apparently you also have a reading disorder. I mentioned in my post that the correct answer to the problem was already given. There is no need for me to help that member anymore. I disgusts me to see that a moderator on this site openly flames me when I post criticism to a post of him, which seems to be rather accurate for that matter.

Of all people it's members of the bsc that help me out. A group of people I don't praticularly like because of their elitist attitude, but they seem to earn that title at times as well. This can not be said of you however. Perhaps you should reconsider your current position as "helper" to the unknowledgeable and stick to moderating forum posts.

Uh oh....I hear the jingle jangle of a lock clamping down on this poor thread...and before it does. @ Zwabberaar: You may not like BSC but at least we know what the heck we are talking about and very proud of it!! If that is elitist..so be it.

Usually I will not over-reach from the BLaM Home Site but in this rare occasion I will

Z: That last part about BSC no matter how warranted it may or may not be is not helpful at all. That kind of comment is to be kept to one's self and remember the code of conduct at all times when posting at any Sim City site while flying the BLaM flag (something that sticks while you are a BLaM member).

As for the rest - I won't comment but thanks to BSC for lending a hand and advice to help the poor person out.

The lock is here, but not for that reason.  The question has been answered, and the topic is no longer relevant.
