MY friend has a modded Wii and downloaded the Japanese version and i played it two days ago. It was pretty awesome. I liked using Pokemon Trainer and the graphics are better. Plus theres smash balls with special moves, pretty cool. I'll pick up my copy when I intend to buy it

Well I'm not a huge SSB fan (never got the gamecube one or the one for the 64), but I did buy Brawl.  So far, I am enjoying it quite a lot, its fun to play with friends and stuff.   Not sure if I'll ever play it solo though. 

I have to day that Donkey Kong, King Dedede and link are my favorite characters.  I don't seem to do any damage when being the Ice climbers though, they are hard to control.

Oh, and for those of you yet to play it, I highly suggest you get a Gamecube controller (wired or wireless) because it makes the controls so much easier.  Using the Wii remote, numchuck, or classic controller just doesn't compare to using a gamecube controller.  I find it is much easier to play the game with it.

I give it a 8.5/10.  Solo mode could improve as well as a larger variety of music in the game.
