Bravo my friend, I was wondering what your silence was hidding. Well, weeding cake or not, I really like your new building and the nighlights are a .... " piece of cake" (that means it's very good). 44.gif

Well, and what about the max version of your Aig building? I am really  impatient to see it released to the STEX 3.gif

Thanks guys. Here's the start of the Panasonic Towers, anyone know what they're actually called? If not then I'll just leave them as Panasonic Towers, but it'd be great to get the real name. Found it, they're called Elizabeth House.

Nice gritty textures? I like that 11.gif

The base looks like you could chop the tower off and use it as a office building, we could definitely use some with that style. I have been meaning to make a few similar buildings but have never gotten around to it. Too much I have already started and not enough finished 14.gif

    Looking forward to textures!

Aren't we a little showoff? 3.gif I gotta hand it to you, though: That perspective shoot does look too cool.

I've got a couple of question for the Simfox's and Paluvmontfort's out there.

I've been stalling on the AIG Tower. I'm not motivated to work on it because as hard as I try, I can't seem to create a decent glass material.

Looking through your threads, I'm at a loss as to how you guys can create such fantastic looking glass. I've searched the net, and so far found no tutorials that can point me in the right direction.

(I mean just look at this sort of thing, it's fantastic...)

So all this said, I was wondering if some of you more experienced Max users could help me out.

First of all (and I know Paul you had this problem with the Lippo), what colour actually is the thing? It's clad in highly reflective glass, so depending on the time if day, the angle of view and the weather, it can vary from dull green to dull blue to a darker and more saturated blue on bright days to even grey in some instances. I've generally decided on a medium blue, but I'd like some opinions on this. Why not green, typically seen from a higher angle as apposed to the blue. I think the problem may be that one side of the tower is reflecting the harbour (blues) while the other is reflecting the mountains (green), really giving us no definite colour. The photos below demonstrate what I'm talking about, all taken on clear days, but from different angles.

This was my pick, although I'm not sure this medium-blue colour scheme will look right in SC4.

Secondly, what sort of reflections should be considered and how would I go about creating a high quality glass material? I'm a big fan of ground reflections, the type used on Pacific Place, but what's the correct way to do this in Max? If possible, could one of you guys point me toward a tutorial or possibly give some hints as to how to get a glass clad tower like this to look so damn good. I've experimented with ray tracing (reflection and refraction) as well as trying to merge in all sorts of background textures to create a reflective effect, but so far, no luck. I could post what I've got, but I'm not going to as it looks absolutely nothing like the real AIG. Suggestions, tips, hints, what's the best way to go about this, anything, whatever, I'm stuck!!

I'd also like to experiment with tru-night and more advanced night-lighting than I’ve done in the past, as this building looks stunning at night, but we can get to that later.

I doubt the new AIG will be released in the near future, because as you can see I have ALOT that I want to do on this thing.
