I think I like the second one better. The first one is a bit jagged. Though if you used some diagonals on it, I'd go with the first one.

This is a very well crafted version of a great city. I regret not catching it sooner. Battery Park number 2 is the best, hands down. I'll come back. I look forward to the region shot. I love a good region shot!

Thank you to everyone who has voted so far. It's looking pretty clear at the moment that the new version of Battery Park is the favoured one, I will however leave this vote open for another day and then hopefully I will be back with another update.

Keep your votes coming and any other comments/suggestions you might have =]

Well, it's been quite awhile since I've been here, and I must say that your work has just continued to improve. Besides that I think Battery Park 2 looks mor New Yorkish. Great job on this masterpiece

Well it's that time again, update time, yay!!!!!! I hope you are all as excited as I am about it. First of all though I would like to thank everyone who voted for the best Battery Park design and to say there was a clear winner would be an understatement with 100% of the vote going towards the new design.

Now before I get down to the knitty gritty and release a few more pictures i'll answer all of your replies.

warconstruct: Thanks for stopping by and leaving your encouragement.

renemone: Thanks and I promise I will keep going.

    penguin007: Thanks for visiting.

Rictiovarus: Thanks for the vote and advice which I will probably consider in the future seeing it will always be a work in progress.

jjune4991: Thanks for voting and your valuable input.

    jim 546: Thanks for voting.

psander5: Thanks for voting and welcome to the CJ hope to see you again soon.

jacqulina: As always appreciate your input, thanks.

crazyarchitect: Thanks for putting up with my lack of updates and coming back and also for your words of encouragement.

Now this week's update is also a bit of a redevelopment of an area I worked on a few updates ago, that area being the Civic Centre. I wasn't happy looking back on what I released as it just didn't seem to well, look much good.

This time around though after matching building types to one another and creating what I think is a great urban space for people and business to intermingle with plaza's and open spaces it adds importance to the area and gives it the identity of being a proper Civic Centre.

    So here she is.............

    manhattanfinancialdistrmg0.jpg

The shot above is typical of any given day at the NYC Civic Centre being a hive of activity with people hurrying to court hearings and council business.

    manhattanfinancialdistrwx6.jpg

Now a night shot of the same area from a different perspective with the towering skycrapers of the Financial District looming ominously over the top but not all encompassing it or taking it's significance and power away.

    manhattanfinancialdistroq8.jpg

This last shot is of Pier 17 at night with the Brooklyn Bridge crossing at the bottom of the picture. Popular with New Yorker's and tourists alike as a shopping centre and a place for a good meal with it's many available restaurants and cafe's. You may even find the odd broker or banker having some time out from the frantic world of Wall St only blocks away.

That's it for now, I hope you all enjoy the new update and keep on leaving your messages and any words of wisdom you might like to share.

Hi. I've read your whole CJ and i'm very impressed! Definitely hope to visit NY someday.

Just one thing, where did you find the prop in your civic photo of lawn edged with little conifers or something - very formal looking. I've looked on the LEX (because that's where I thought it was) - but to no avail. I did only search under Parks though. I'd just love to find this. Keep up the great work. It's inspiring.

jacqulina: Thanks, it took a while to get it the way I wanted and to be honest I still don't think I'm finished with it yet.

    ?avi?: Thanks for stopping by.

alberta13: Thanks for taking the time to have a look through my CJ and I can tell you New York is an amazing place to visit, nothing quite like it anywhere in the world. As far as the lawn fence/confier lots are concerned, I believe it is on the LEX. What you need to do is look up the power search and under author find jeronji's name and it should bring up JRJ Park Fences Revised, that is the lot you will want.

I think it's awesome, is the city functional also?? I really believe that you are doing a good job, but I think the island is getting a little small also haha doesn't it?? I mean, there are so many things to do and space is really a matter at that point, or not?? TELL ME ABOUT YOUR WORK, haha it's a good representation

cmdp123789: Hi, the city will be functional or at least I hope it will be once it's done. I certainly won't be able to do it on the same scale as the real NYC which is a good thing as I'm struggling as it is with it about 1/3 of the size. What else did you want to know about my work??

Does anyone know where I can find the pavement mod for avenues where on diagonal placement currently it shows up with grass patches on the sides and I want to change that to pavement so it fits in better with the city feel. If anyone could direct me to a link that would be great.

Update time again folks and do I have a treat for you........or at the least I hope it is. Today is the official unveiling of my Times Square development which may or may not be my final version of it as I seem to be quite happy with the results.

The layout of the avenues and roads could use work but the reason behind it was to try and get rid of those nasty grass patches that appear on the side of diagonal avenues and believe me filling it in with road pieces made it look a lot better.

Anyhow, I'll stop blabbing on and get to the good stuff and that would be the pictures. Enjoy and please comment and let me know what you think and any other feedback you might have.

    midtownmanhattanmay2624su6.jpg

Times Square, the most famous square in the world and the beating heart of New York City. Thousands of tourists decend on it daily to admire the way she lights up at night and to catch a Broadway show just around the corner.

    midtownmanhattanjun1524gy8.jpg

One of the most famous places in Times Square and a child or child at heart's dream is the Toy's R Us store complete with it's own life size T-Rex mechanical dinosaur and Ferris wheel. Virgin's Megastore is also a popular spot on the Square to stock up on CD's, DVD's and other merchandise. My personal favourite is the M&M store with floor to ceiling candy in great big tubes of every conceivable colour you could imagine, not for the faint-hearted.

    midtownmanhattanjun7241by2.jpg

Times Square from another perspective as seen through the many skyscrapers of Midtown that surround her from all sides. Also a shameless plug of Ellen's talk-show peeking through and the Swatch store with all it's funky designs.

    midtownmanhattanjul7241aw6.jpg

Last but not least is a close-up on 2 Times Square, with it's world famous advertising hordenings that company's pay millions each year for and below that is the TKTS booth where you can get discount show tickets for all your Broadway shows, just make sure you line up early!

So that's that for now, let me know if you'd like me to post some pictures of it during the day and I would be more than happy to.

I was wondering where you found these buildings?  I'm sure I circled the same building more than once.  I attached the photos.

    Thanks!!

You know what really annoys me, and it probably really annoys you too, is that the game puts an ugly grass texture underneath the avenues when you surround them with plopped building.

Get these mods, they really makes urban cities look more realistic.

https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=11674 <--- Street, One Way and Road Version

You might have to get rid of your JRJ textures though.

Other than that, excellent work, really resembles NYC.

Hey everyone, thanks so much for your replies and feedback, it is most appreciated.

Gonorrhea: Top first post there buddy, really quite constructive, lol

nihonkaranws: Thanks, I didn't know the shortcut until now, so I appreciate the advice

mcarch: lol, that's a lot of buildings you want me to find for you, I cangive you the names of some of the authors of those fantastic buildings but I'm not going to look for a link individually as that would take me all night. A lot of those buildings are made by Jasoncw and nofunk, so if you look them up on the STEX or LEX you should find almost half of them. Another BATter responsible for some of those great buildings especially the New York ones is Hanson who also has a great New York City recreation thread. The Cube building is the Police Cube so type in police and you should find it, and that court-room is well a court room so type that in the STEX and you should find it.

panthersimcity4: Thanks very much for your reply and for stopping by.

Cockatoo-210893: You are a life-saver, thanks so much for pointing me towards that first link as the grass patches were doing my head in, I have now remedied my road layout because of it and will post a new picture below showing how much better it looks. Thank You!!!!

jacqulina: Thanks for the comment and I think the only way to see Times Square is during the night otherwise it just doesn't give the proper effect.

penguin007: Thanks, that's half the problem with doing a New York City recreation because of it's density, you need to put in 3 times the buildings and 3 times the work in order for it to half resemble the real life thing.

CraigKingOfIreland: Thanks for stopping by and commenting,so I take it you've either lived in New York or visited it before, it is a pretty amazing city.

    midtownmanhattanjul1024tg1.jpg

Thanks to Cockatoo for providing the link to swamper's avenue mod, which allowed me to clean up the road mess in the previous Times Square shot, so here is a small update showing the new road layout which I think looks a lot better.

instead of 2 parallel avenues crossing, you should have one straight avenue and another that crosses diagonally. I think that will make your times square look more times square-y. Your times square looks too squat and fat. on the other hand, my suggestion might mess up the square lots of all the buildings. just a suggestion.

    gndrew: Thanks for commenting.

    hunkske: Cheers!

coolotter88: Thanks for your input, I was umming and ahhing about it when I started building it and the reason I didn't go ahead with it was the grass edging of the avenues which made it look spectacularly ugly. Now however that I was pointed in the right direction of swamper's avenue mod, I might go and give it another go, just to see how it looks.

    More to come soon!
