    A view of future development of Harding.  I hope to get most of this done before I start the journal proper.

    Fantastic work ginchael, excellent terraforming, a well planned city. I particularly like the mountainside pic - the roads look so tiny on it. Brilliant.

    A short update...I created a new spur of the loop highway to the New Albany Business District.  It is on top of the levee because lets face it, space is at a premium south of New Albany and I don't want to build through the park.

    The first exit, at Far Nugget Square.

    The second exit, in the semi-urban area just south of New Albany.

    Finally, where the spur ends.  It might be expanded later on to get to Downtown.

    No comments again? I've forgotten how slow starting a CJ is...

    ========

    I worked a little bit on the suburbs in Harding Mountainside.

    So, I present to you the developments outside Rayado known as Blue Lake and Outer Rayado.

    Outer Rayado on the other side.  No exit there yet...but there are several on the outskirts of town.

    Looking good. I absolutely adore your suburbs, they epitomize the urban sprawl found all over North America. Middle-class families, raised in the malls and office parks of the suburban lifestyle...ahh.

    @ RHF--Thank you.  It's essentially where I grew up.

    I've been doing some thinking... I think I'm gonna keep this thread just as a showcase of the city, and open the storyline in a new thread.  Any ideas about this?

    An update.

    Chapman Hill.JPG

    I've been working with the downtown area. I've made this medium density area just to the west of the main skyscraper district. It's called Chapman Hill.

    There is also a nice soccer stadium called Chapman Yards.

    Southwest Downtown.JPG

    Some more just south of the last picture.

    However, I think I have a problem.

    Bad borders.JPG

    As you can see from the pic, there's a bad border. And, the medium density is a little closer to the mountains that I would like. What do you think?

    @aasim45--Thanks a lot!

    @jacalina--Thanks! You seem to post in every CJ! Where do you find the time?

    Not much work today...It was over 100 and I'd rather have jumped into the pool.10.gif

    Wow!! This City Journal really impressed me so much. First I really love you downtown it looks very nice in the region view, then I really like blue lake near those homes! very nice indeed! But that Highway loop right near the coast scares me a bit. How about a car accident? [:0]  But anyways back to downtown I really like how your creeks go right near downtown! This is one of amazing CJ here that I have seen! I really like it! So much I am tracking this CJ! Great working I am looking forward into more of you updates!44.gif

    A short update...

    HARDING at night.

    Harding at Night.JPG

    You might notice some buildings without lights. This, of corurse, is due to some of the problems with the economy latey. This building--1 Station Plaza--used to be home to Paradise Valley Bank.

    1 Station Plaza.JPG

    No abandonment yet, since it has only been a few weeks. But this dark monolith is a reminder to the people that things aren't what they used to...

    Some even blame the government. Some even say that if the government wasn't there, this economic downturn will go away.

    ============

    There, a little preview of the eventual story...

    Superchad--Thanks!

    Mexicanboy13r--Thank you very much. It's kinda scary, but so are the highways in New York City. You essentially drive on the river!

    jacqualina--Me too. Thank you for stopping by.

    Gingerblokey--Well, you can still use the name too! Thanks!

    HARDING RIVER!

    Part 2

    Just upriver from its dirty end under two overpasses, the Harding River passes through the ritzy University district.

    Creek1.JPG

    Just up from Harding University is the heart of downtown, which is centered upon Netcong Point, where Rayado Creek and the Harding River meet. At this junction is the original Fort Harding.

    Creek2.JPG

    Past downtown, the development (as well as the safety of the neighborhood) gets a little spotty, so forgive me.

    Creek3.JPG

    Creek4.JPG

    Creek5.JPG

    As the river becomes more of a creek and enters the suburbs, it gets buried under highways and avenues and flooded with trash.

    Creek6.JPG

    The Interstate follows Harding River up the canyon, out of the valley.

    Creek7.JPG

    The river fianlly ends in the hills.

    Creek8.JPG

    Thank you for the comments!

    aasim45: Thanks! Are you going to make a journal of Greenridge? I've seen the teaser in your sig for some time, and my interest is piqued.

    jacqulina: Thank you! I JUST now downloaded the patch so that the BATs have nightlighting...and I wanted to show it off!

    aleking: Thanks! It's actually a downloaded region I think called Waterforks, here on the MEX. I've modified it quite a lot, though.
