Well, its been a while since I've had a CJ here, right?  I think...Decemberish...was the last time I had one, and that was Newport Through the Ages.  You might be wondering:

Hey Ginchael?  Why haven't you had a City Journal in so long/updated Newport?

Well, anonymous someone, the answer is this--for the last few months, the computer from which I have SimCity4 and made my updates has had absolutely NO internet whatsoever. None.  Kaput.  The router has been broken.

So, after a long time, the Internet has been fixed today!  Woo!  39.gif _mcafee_ok=1  Unfortunately, I have nothing to show for my self.  I've finished two regions in this time--Newport and Donalbain--and have started a third.  I haven't been working very long on the third region, only a few weeks, so I don't have much to show.  So this will be a preview journal, some prelim shots to get a general reaction.

Here's the region.

Harding, Colorado

    Thank you all for the comments.

    @sc4player, cjah-  Thank you very much.  I'm glad to be doing another one.  I need to start writing again!  46.gif _mcafee_ok=1

    @Mexicanboy13r-  This is actually a downloaded region that I'm modifying.  I'm adding creeks and stuff, and going to add a smaller river in the southeast valley. The mountains, though, I haven't touched.  I really like those northwest mountains, but the southern stuff is like rolling hills.

    Just some places I like in Downtown Harding.  Can't show too much, or I won't have stuff for an actual city journal.

    Those are some amazing screenshots!!! No internetconnection since December? It can always be worse: I've been through a 3 month period without a proper connection, and right now my pc is so messed up that it only runs in safemode...
    At least I can enjoy myself with some excellent journals on Simtrop in the meantime, and I have a feeling that this can be an excelent one too! keep it up!

    hey, ginchael, looks like you are off to an excellent start...and i really like the idea of adding more little creeks in there - that could really give the area a lot of personality

    Yes, I think small creeks and streams and lakes, the little imperfections, are what make a really nice-looking region look so. And having had high-speed internet for five years straight now, I couldn't imagine going a week without it, let alone several months... [:0]

    Thank you for all the comments!

    @utora--I had internet, just not on the computer that SimCity is on.  It would have been a real pain in the [:0] to manually put pics to disk, then move them to the other computer...it would have been a real hassle.

    @MrCinatit--That means a lot, coming from a famous terraformer and city journaler (and now moderator) like yourself.9.gif

    @Oroen--Imagine my anger when I found out the problem could have been fixed in five minutes--faulty router.

    @Mikeaut--Dusktrooper is teh one who actually inspired the creeks.  I love them, and they remind me a lot of the rivers Colorado and Northern New Mexico...

    @TMS--Sure.  Here ya go.

    Thank you all for your support.  Remember, this is a PREVIEW, just a little look into how I develop my cities.  I just don't feel right creating a full CJ from only two cities, I need to develop a little more...at the same time though, I want to post.

    Here's some pictures of the mountainside area, which I have begun laying roads in.

    Just a quick look at Donalbain, the region between Newport and Harding.  It will be featured in Harding's CJ.

    *whoops, a little big there, let me resize it...*

    *there we go.*

    Hey guys,

    Unfortunately, I will not be able to update/play SC4 for a few days.  I have a lot of schoolwork to do before the year is out!

    The layout through the mountains is quite spectacular. The railway viaduct is nice, and the roads through the rock cuts look great. I always like driving on wide highways through rock cuts.

    @oroen--I love those two.  The Delaware Water Gap is among my favorites.

    I've started work on the first ring suburbs.  Please welcome to the stage Mount Pleasant, which lies across the river from Harding between the river and this large hill call Mount Pleasant.  Sorry, I forgot to take an overview shot.

    Downtown%20Mt.%20Pleasant.JPG

    A mainly low rise downtown area.

    Outer%20Low%20Density%20suburbs.JPG

    Closer to the mountain lies some low-density single tract housing.

    Sanderson%20Field%20and%20Levee.JPG

    Closer to the river lies a lot of industry and levees.  I'm thinking of using the Jeronji walls on the levees.  Also, there is a small airport.

    On the mountain ridge, soaring hundreds of feet above the town on high cliffs, lies Ponderosa Ridge, an incredibly rich suburb.

    real cool cj so far, one tip is that on your mountain pics the tree
    line seems to be very defined a little blending of different types
    might look more realistic.

    great cj and keep it up.

    Over the long weekend, I've been working on the southern portions of Harding.

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/S%20Templeton.JPG align=baseline>

    At the top of this map is the southern portion of Templeton.

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/New%20Albany.JPG align=baseline>

    Further south is the miniature commercial district of New Albany.  I'm not done with this area.

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/Low%20dense%20south.JPG align=baseline>

    As you approach Nugget Creek and the Harding city border, the houses become griddy and close together.

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/Eagle%20Lake%20Park.JPG align=baseline>

    Also in this area, I've been working on a massive greenspace and park called Eagle Lake Park.

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/South%20Overview1.JPG align=baseline>

    And an overview of the area so far.  Can you believe that tiny corner of the map has over 20000 people?  [:0]

    Well, a mini update before I go to work--I present to you the town of Rayado, near the Rayado Creek source and the Harding Rocks.
