Region Name Changing

Is it possible to change the name of a region, and if so, how?

yes it is simple

you have to go to the F:\Documents and Settings\Edward\My Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and select the region you want to change. Open up the region file, scroll to the bottom on the folder and find the file named region.

It should look like this

[Regional Settings]

Name = Sardon Pass

Terrain type = 0

Water Min = 60

Water Max = 100

Change name = to what ever you want it to be and save the changes

So if i change it, it would look like this:

[Regional Settings]

Name = Haarlington

Terrain type = 0

Water Min = 60

Water Max = 100

what do the water min and max do ? and if i where to change terraintype would it make it look like a higher level without it being higher?

Changing the other three items have no effect that I know of.

Maxis was going to have various terrain types like they did in SC3K, but the file contents for those are incomplete or missing. There are references to various terrain types in the Terrain INI file that the game has in its files, but they are commented out since they are incomplete and the corresponding files are missing. So changing the terrain type number will have no effect.

I have no idea what the water level settings do, but you are welcome to experiment with them.
