SC4 - Blue Screen error on Windows Vista

I just got a new laptop and I have installed SC4K

Whenever I start SC4K It will load up past the bridge screen and as soon as it goes full screen, I get a huge blue screen error and the whole computer shutsdown and restarts...  I have all the latest updates and I don't know what the problem could be...

Here's my PC specs.

Acer Aspire 5570-2977

Intel Pentium Dual Core

80 GB Harddrive

1 Gig Ram

and Windows Vista

SC4K was running just fine on my PC which was Windows XP and only 512 MB's of ram but why not this?

I've even changed the compatability mode on the program

disabled desktop composition

and ran the program as an administrator... what could be the problem here?

Additional information about the problem:

I have Vista and it runs fine with mine. Maybe its the RAM, with the amount that Vista takes up you might not have enough to run SC4.  Can you run other games?

Need4Camaro:

Try renaming the plugins folder, and create a new one. If that works you will know where to start.

Check the program files plugins, to see if there might be something missing, that was in the game on the other computer. I am assuming you copied the documents plugins from the other computer.

Microsoft once again is selling us consumers a beta program thus we are the tester.Your system specs ain't the problem seeing how mine are almost the same except I have larger harddrive.
Worse case is do a fresh install of the game and becareful what you download.

The problem is that PCs are being sold with the minimum amount of RAM Vista needs, 512 Megs-1Gig. I would recomment going to 2 Gigs and seeing what that does. General Protection Faults (Blue screens of death) occur when one program trys to access the same memory resorces as another, in this case, SC4 and Vista.

Wow!  Wasn't all that helpful?  Thank God that whoever set up your machine set it for BSOD instead of just a reboot.

Did your Blue Screen of Death tell you what module failed?  If so, what was the message?

This kind of behaviour with NT-based operating systems is usually a driver problem.
