Hi, Im on a MAC and have downloaded a ton of cool BATS and none of them have nightlights, I've searched the forums, but can't really find and answer. I know about the update on simcity.com, like alot of other people, Icant register to download it. is there anyway I can get that update? If not is there another way to get my nightlights to work? Please help. Thanks

Also being a Mac user, I will inform you that there is no update for us that allows bats to use nightlights. But there is a way to do it yourself if you have virtual PC or Intel Mac with Bootcamp. This thread here discusses bwatterud's effort at Mac nightlighting effort, https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=105&threadid=84578&enterthread=y , which he learned from Goaskin. I alos have been using the tecnique they discuss to make buildings light up for my Mac. Hope that is a little bit of help. Edit: Okay, I found the thread in which Goaskin details his technique for getting Mac buildings to light up: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=105&threadid=62108&highlight_key=y&keyword1=Goaskin

By any chance, would His Divine Hand, or anyone else know how to download Maps and Region on a Mac? Thanks.

To solve the problem forever without the need of Mac Packs, we need a small program and (of course) a range of unused Instance IDs.

The program should read the sc4model files, set the right group IDs, shift the instance IDs and modify the materials used in the models. There should be a counter file to add +1 after each conversion to avoid the double use of the same instance IDs. With something like this, everyone could convert his buildings.

That should not be hard to code and realizable very quickly.

We should try to get wouanagaine to do that after he finishes the XTool.

If you absolutely want one small building done, since I have a PC, I guess I can help you.

I could do a small building too, but what about a skyscraper? Is program got written, any Mac user could get working nightlights for all the buildings in their plugins folder, no matter how big.

@GoaSkin-If you do write the program, it would be good if you could have it change the TransitSwitchTrafficCapacity rep in SC4Lot files to 0. That would fix the traffic capacity bug that effects some train stations.

It would be nice to have the transitswitchcapacity fixed too. But I would be simply ecstatic if a nightlight patch got written. That would likely be the greatest fix for Mac users of the game ever.

I'm happy to do what I can for the Mac community, but I'm very pleased that people with far more knowledge of Macs than I have are doing so much. I'm no programmer. 3.gif

I don't understand why you want to set the transit capacity to 0. This should make the stations useless. If you mean the bug that the capacity appears like 2 instead of 2000, you may fix it by changing the variable type (Uint32->Float32).

Actually the program handles parameters of simcity1.dat and does not search the content of plugin files. If you want to test it, you need to install the Apple Developer Tools, QT from Trolltech, Version 4.3 and the source code. On the shell type qmake -macx and open the .xcodeproj file with XCODE. There, you can build the application.

What I described doesn't set the capacity to 0. The reason that the bug occurs (most of the time) is that SC4Tool sets the rep of the TransitSwitchTrafficCapacity value to 1, when the default rep is 0. This works fine on PCs, but causes the capacity to show up as (for example) 2 instead of 2000 on macs.

Well, I certainly have nowhere near the talent necessary to write a program to fix the nightlights, but if someone where to do it, I would very happily host it on my file sharing site if given the permission to do so. 9.gif
