An indepth view of the military's search for Havvas

---

9:30 A.M. July 24 Aberni City, Sadi Province. Our media crew is packed, our van pulls up just outside Bureau 49. Our crew is transferred to a special military vehicle. I sit crammed into the back of a Troop Transport Vehicle (TTV). Beside us are the Aberni Special Forces, an elite group trained in the tactics of Jungle warfare, similar to the America green berets.  After several miles we reach Fort Aberni, a high level, multi-purpose military base.

11:30 A.M. Fort Aberni. The convoy arrives at Fort Aberni, bringing with them 45 new Special Forces. Over the next few days I will ship out to the Black Forests of the Eastern Hills. I will be embedded with a group of 13 soldiers. Their mission is to find and destroy any possible Havvas Camps. This is the government's new stategy in the war on Havvas. Root them out from the source, before they can reach the city. Today I will meet the troops and this afternoon, we will leave by helicopter.

1:13 P.M. I have met the troops as well General Powe, The three star general in charge of the codenamed operation Clean Forest. Many peoples lives rest on his shoulders, if Havvas is not taken out, chaos could erupt in the city. I am told that the helicopter will be boarded in ten minutes. I am rushed to a bunker to dawn my protective gear. It is of upmost importance that I am camouflaged correctly so I do not put the troops in harms way.

1:23 P.M. 13 soldiers and I board the Helicopter, now Headed for the Black Forest. The second we land we will be in constant danger of ambushes, landmines, and the forces of nature.

5:54 P.M. Black Forest. Our helicopter lands in a small clearing. Two soldiers exit the craft. They circle it, searching for bombs. The area is clear; one by one the soldiers step out. No bodies have been spotted on the monitor. The area is deemed safe, yet no one dares take off any gear.

6:00 P.M. The supplies our loaded into our backpacks, the helicopter begins to take off as we huddle near the clearing and eat our supper. It could be the last we have for several days.

We go over all plans as we eat supper.

Late night July 24 - early morning July 25. With our stomachs full, their weapons fully loaded, and new ultra camouflage uniforms on, we split up into group of three and four. Each going in different directions, each searching for the same thing. Our's is a sniper/infantry division. We must stake out a large area for hours and then move on. I feel venerable, as I am the only one without a gun. I am forced to keep my thoughts in my head and write them down later. Any sound could put us in danger. As we hold our position through the night, without any action, I begin to feel so bored, yet so terrified.

July 25. It's midday, the sun, peeks through the canopy of the never ending forest. My bought of boredom is broken. A radio message is received. A enemy has been spotted. The location is only a few kilometer's north. Blood begins to rush through my body. But I am careful to move only when told. As we begin our trip, I realize how heavy my pack is. Our trek is long and nerve racking. Every step could be your last. The front man walks with a metal detector at hand for mines. We must drop down at ever noise.

5:34 A.M. July 26. The forest is still dark. Our group has finally arrived, we are greeted by the rest of the soldiers. We stand in the forest only a few dozen meters, from a group of Havvas Militants. The front man, Jui Sammi hastily steps forward. BANG. A land mine explodes in our faces. The militants turn and fire in our direction. I am pushed back behind them. One soldier is radioing in help. The others fire bullets at the militants. A rescue helicopter is near. Both sides do not wait to fire. But we are much more precise. Then, a burst of flames engulfs the Havvas camp. This is the only place to land a helicopter for miles. It must be cleared, so the troops can get medical attention.

5:40 A.M. Their camp is searched, no one can be found alive. Tears fill my eyes at this sight. Dead bodies can be seen lying on the ground. The helicopter hovers over our spot. Two of our soldiers have been killed, three others with severe wounds. As the helicopter lands, the most badly wounded are loaded on by people with lesser wounds.

5:42 A.M. As we enter the air our craft comes under fire from another camp. We cannot suffer anymore damage. a missile is fire as we fly south, back to the Fort.

We are greeted by grieving mothers and wives as our helicopter lands. The brave men of that platoon will be redeployed as the military recycles its members in an attempt to bring down a dangerous enemy.

And so my report ends as I write this back at Fort Aberni. I will return to the city now, were violence is again on the rise.

This new website will still be considered part of my city journal, but the website will allow more features to be shown.

9:00 A.M. Aberni City, Sadi Province. Havvas leaks several memos to the media claiming that August will be a bloody month in Aberni. As the sun dawn's new secrurity strategyies are being applied to combat Havvas. And because of ever present threats of attacks to the president, the capital property is being fortified. For the first time ever, a wall will surround the mayor's mansion. Some civilians see this as a sign of fear and paranoia.

10:00 A.M. Step two of the governments plan takes a major leap forward as support beams are placed in the construction zone of the new emergency center. The residents of Aberni seem rather cheery for a city considered at very high risk for attack.

11:39 A.M. A storm of patrol cars are heard racing around Aberni. Many people gather at the streets as they watch them surround a coal power plant n the city's southern, industrial area.

11:54 A.M. A press conference is held at the Coal Plant. The owner confirms rumors that an attack was planned on the Plant. He has also said it was an inside job. The man has been brought into custody and is being held at Bureau 49.

2:00 P.M. Police confirm that would-be attacker has close ties with Havvas. He will go to court in several weeks, after intense questioning. Today's threat brings up new questions about the city's power grid.

3:05 P.M. The sun beats down hard on our helicopter as we make our way across the city, in search of a story. We are just passing over Main street when a deafening blow is heard below. We look down to see the source of the enormouss explosion, a fiery mess is seen below. It feels like several bombs have gone off at once.

3:25 P.M. The city is on the edge of breaking out into riots. Anger builds up as an official report is released. 13 dead, 17 wounded. This has been the most lethal attack yet, investigators surround the scene. 

3:45 P.M. Government officials begin to worry about a new kind of threat, an economic threat, if their are any attacks in Aberni's high-rise, wealthy neighborhoods, the richest citizens could begin leaving the city, taking with them, millions of dollars. Today's attack was the closest call yet. The car bomb blew up just at the edge of its high class neighborhood.

5:57 P.M. In fear of possible riots, the government launches its third phase of it's plan. Within several minutes, three bomb checkpoints are placed around the city. Each one designed to pull over every car that passes and check for explosives or suspicious activity.

9:00 A.M. Aberni City, Sadi Province, August 2. The past few days have filled the city with many mixed emotions. Although there have been no attacks, dozens of threats have come in about the weeks ahead. New worries are arising about Havvas is expanding its operations. Meanwhile, the government has continued to strengthen its campaign against the group. However, forcing Havvas out of the city raises the possibilities of outside rocket attacks.

11:30 A.M. The government holds a public conference saying that despite terrorism threats, the city will continue to develop its economy. Today the city released a very ambitious plan to push its economy forward.

"This city will not be torn down by injustice and terror! This economy will push forward! We will defeat our enemies with our own success. Our economy will thrive, our people will prosper, and our enemies will fall ". - Mayor  Ny Nguye

11:45 A.M. The full plan is revealed, the city plans to build a compact, high-rise business center. This center will be a highly secured, commercial and residential mix neighborhood. The second part of the plan is to build a large canal connecting Lake Aberni to the open sea. Up until now the port was only used to ship goods to the military base. Now the economy will be opened to ship thousands of kilograms of goods to and from other countries and regions.

1:12 P.M. This city is abuzz with hopefulness; it has an easy going feel to it. For the first time in weeks, the people wear with them smiles. But I am reminded by the words, nothing lasts forever. A large burst of flames erupts from a local gas station. The area is evacuated as fire crews move in. Luckily, this time no one is seriously injured, just frightened. Emergency crews have dramatically improved their response time, which saved many lives today. It seems that Havvas is losing its grip on Aberni.

 4:17 A.M. Even though the situation could have been very deadly, the event was considered a success for the Secret Police. It appears Havvas is lying low, regrouping for another day.

At the capital, the mayor has repeatedly received specific death threats as the wall surrounding the mansion is completed. The wall is becoming a symbol of separation and extra protection for the powerful.

 7:30 A.M. Aberni Canal, Said Province, August 3. Construction began in a hurry yesterday on Aberni's new projects. The government has set up a makeshift airport quickly to fly supplies to the construction site. My crew and I get a tour of the site, which is making amazing progress. Just 18 hours after construction began; a section of wall has already gone up. This project is reported to amount to several hundred million dollars. The government says that the cost is worth it, considering the billions of dollars it will pour into the economy.

ABERNI: CITY AT WAR  Mini report August 5, 07

1:00 P.M. From the office of the mayor, the new centerpeiece design for Aberni's new neighbourhood (curently under construction) has been revealed, the buildings exact height is unknown. What has been released is an artists impression of the building. In a press conference the mayor revealed that this will be the tallest building in Aberni, when completed. The building is meant to show Havvas that life can go on in this city.
