Lately I am having probs when using the puzzle pieces (Normal and Avenue). When I hover over a certain area on the screen with the puzzle pieces, the game will crash to desktop....

Eventhoug it's not a 100% of the time, it is annoying.

Help!?

Aww.  Be nice.  These guys belong to the now generation.

People, the NAM puzzle pieces all work the same way.  If you hover over  or even cross a transit enabled lot with a puzzle piece on your cursor, it's desktop time.  Use CTRL+S frequently to reduce the annoyances.

Hi I'm new to simtropolis. I really like these patches and modds. It makes my cities look cool. However, I wanted to know when will be that bug fixed ? I'm trying to make a nice GLR around my city but it's just impossible, game is crashing every 5 minutes. I know it must be difficult to create modds and patches but I would be very greatful because I love GLR 4.gif Thanks in advance for reply and forgive my english if its bad. Thanks.

What are transit enabled lots? Bus stops, Metro stations, Train stations etc.??

drapacz, transit enabled lots are lots that the sims use to get across, like GLR,rail, streets, roads, highway and even pedestrians ...etc. These are modified lots and therefore sometimes not working properly because of some bugs that we cannot fix all the time. I don't use any of them and my game never crashes. 2.gif They are nice looking and sometimes useful but whether you want to live with the possible problems is up to you.

For the umpteenth time, this problem will never be fixed by EA/Maxis.  Since it involves fixing the executable text, we are not allowed to do it.

I use GLR and other puzzle pieces quite a lot.  I do it at magnification 5, with great caution, and I save before I start working on it (CTRL+s).  I also save whenever I get a few pieces down the way I want them.

It is a PITA, but that's the way it is.  You don't build a new GLR track every day, eh?

Anyone who has the June 2007 NAM can avoid this problem ALOT easier.  There is a new feature of the GLR, its called Draggable GLR.

There is a Menu Icon for the GLR in the Rail Menu if I am not mistaken and it give you one puzzle piece to deal with.   You only have to lay one puzzle piece for this, once you plop this one "starter" puzzle piece you may select the Elevated Rail Tool and drag from the end tile of the "starter" puzzle piece.  The GREAT thing about this is that the puzzle piece is removable after the network has been made stable (Dragging the network about 5 to 10 tiles).  Then you never have to lay another puzzle piece to add to the existing network.  If you want a new line that doesnt attach to the old line then plop another puzzle piece.  Since the draggable section doesnt require any additional puzzle pieces you will not run into the CTD unless you are very careless with the Starter Puzzle Piece.

To be totally honest, since June 2007 NAM I have not had a single GLR CTD issue.  Essentially, we have reduced the CTD issue by more than 99.9%.  If it happens its your own carelessness with the starter piece.  Eventually, the existing puzzle pieces will be removed from the menus and you will not be able to plop them.  Draggable GLR is the way to go so my suggestion remove any OLD GLR Ploppable pieces and replace your GLR network with the Draggable GLR network.
