Don't knock SPAM.  Hormel saved a lot of us from meat deprivation during the WW II rationing.  Nothing like glazed SPAM with cloves and brown sugar glaze.  Good in sandwiches too.

But how hard was that? to stack some cans?

Now take the meat out of the cans and build a castle now then we can be impressed. 9.gif

I must agree with John on this one.  I remember as a boy (Oh, GOD!  I've become my father!), my friends and I use to make our own pizzas by slicing Spam and putting it on the pizza with black olives, three kinds of cheeses and bread and butter pickles!

Regards,

Gary

Well, Spam is made in Austin Minnesota-the main factory at least, with a smaller plant in Lincoln, Nebraska. All of you who survived on Spam are happy it exists, right? So even though I don't mind it but don't eat it regularly, i can't knock it and call it "stuff posing as meat" because it saves.

Our traditional home meal in Hawaii was Spam stir-fried with onions and ketchup and then served over sticky white rice. Yum yum. But food in Hawaii is odd that way...our McDonald's there can serve teriyaki burgers with sticky white rice in lieu of hamburgers and french fries, while at the ballparks saimin noodles are more popular than the American hotdog.  Yikes, now I recall at home even putting thin-sliced Spam on the saimin!  Anyone else eat Sapporo Ichiban instant ramen topped with green onions and Spam?

I love SPAM. Its an integral part of Filipino-American cooking too. I should go visit this castle. I live right in the Midway area so I could just go down Snelling to West 7th and take a turn somewhere down there and BAM! Mall of America 3.gif

Drop into the factory and you can get that anytime.  Sounds delicious.  Relive your boyhood.  Mine was two generations ago, plus.

Ahahaha! Some of this stuff rings a bell. Especially Odainsaker, when I was in Hawaii they served Spamburgers at Mickey D's all the time and they were proud of it. Come to think of it, the Spam Museum is in Austin Minnesota, and when I was there there was this big infomercial about Hawaii and SPAM and all that. Now they have big conveyor belts of SPAM of every shape and kind...lol. Weird stuff, but not all bad.
