mass transit in industrial zones

I have a region of about 4.2 million people. I've been working on these two cities in my southern region for a while. One is all industry with alot of IHT and IM. The city next to it is residential and commercial. I've connected the cities with alot of rail and now monorail. The problem I'm having is with the overuse of bus stops. One of the bus stops by the neighbor connection is at 2365%, and there are 3 other bus stops in that area (like 2 tiles away!). So I'm not sure how to combat that. I know that it's good that people are using mass transit and that people are commuting, but seeing that number makes me worry. I mean service quality is certainly crap, but does the speed or the efficiency of the bus system get worse as well? I'm really not sure what to do. The residential/commercial city has about 900,000 residents and the industrial one has about 80,000 jobs. Thanks!

Even if you put a bus station next to the over capacity station, it may or may not get any use. That's just the way the game does things. I have made custom stations for all transits, with much higher capacities. It might be called a cheat, but I want the transits working. I understand why the programers didn't add the higher capacity stations, it would have bloated the game beyond use, at the time.

After the station capacity is exceeded by 300% the penalty doesn't get any worse.

I made models with gMax BAT, then set the capacity in the Plugin Manager. I suppose you could do custom lots with the Lot editor, and then change the capacity with iLives Reader, or SC4Tools.

I set the monthly budget kinda in line with the capacity, something I would recommend.

I know you are well into your city development with 4.2 Million screaming idiots. But, couldn't you divert traffic somehow without causing a mass exodus? Break a route forcing other sims to find your detour.

well i already have a bunch of connections b/t the city, but they seem to like this one particular avenue and all the train and bus stops on it. i mean i could add more bus stops along the edge of the city. but i think ill let it go for a while, i mean at least people are using mass transit in an industrial park

There is a bus station by Frogface that has a very large capacity.  It is large, transit enabled, and very useful.  I don't know if it still on the stex or has moved to the lex at SC4Devotion.  I use it in extreme cases such as this.  It is a major station and seems to be it is 4 x 4.

EDIT:  It is on the STEX at https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=3556

From dealings with less than 100,000 maggots in my doomed cities, simbots tend to "funnel" .  In other words, you could have three parallel roads of equal distance side by side and only one will be used.  You would think a third of the travelers would appear on each road.  But, NO NO NO.  Sim life isn't like that.  Sims wish to Smeagle you -- anger you with their stupidity.  Therefore, be a cowboy and herd your sims in the direction you want them to go.  If everything is tied together (ie: Grid which leads to Grid-Lock)., make some strategic breaks to force the sims to take one of your many other connections.

For some stupid reason, two bus stops placed next to each ( ala side-by-side) will not divide the bus traffic at that location.  The Sims simply reach the first stop and get off there.  I believe this is due to their willingness to hoof it 8 or more squares.

2365% capacity? Ok thats a new high (best Ive done was 455% before placing one of my own stations)

But best thing to do is find a higher capacity mass transit station, FF has one and I have 2 that are 2200 and 10,000 respectively, they are transit enabled and can be found at the Stex under the name Palpatine001

N_O_body: thanks, i will definitely check that out.

extech: yes that is a very good point, sims are retarded that way. but i did put like 3 other bus stations around that corner and the sims still used them. but they were still over capacity at like 110%. i guess they are just stupid. but im going to try a larger station.

palpatine: thanks for your advice as well, ill look it up. so are things on STEX modds? sorry, i've been playing simcity for a LONG time, but am just getting into the modd stuff and all this other customizations you can do with simcity.

and im attaching a picture. the bus stop in question is circled in red. then there are two others on that street which are at like 100% or more. so yeah ... thanks though!

EDIT: the one across the street is actually at like 1360% and then the train station there is at 980%. lol. stupid sims.

When I was done looking at the attached image, I clicked "Close," on the popup display. I'm so whipped.
