Why do we package things individually?

Isn't it time we packaged all the most popular downloads into several large zip files, complete with dependencies? Like a Hall of Fame pack or Best of the Best pack, or something along those lines. You just contact all the teams, ask them to make their best content available, customize an installer, zip it up, and go! Inside the installer you can pick and choose which downloads you want to install (complete with pictures of the lots) and the installer automatically installs the correct dependencies and documentation.

Is this an old idea? Or will it kill sales of the STEX dvd's? 4.gif

Isn't that what the STEX Collections DVDs are for? Making something else like that would be redundant.

TheSTEX Collections are exactly that. You have to pay for them but you know your money is going to a very, very good cause. ie, Simtrop. 3.gif

Actually, it'll probably run into problems in two ways. First, there's an size limit on the uploads of 10 MB. Second, it'd probably run into problems with distribution rights.

Then there's also the STEX discs, so in other words, it's not going to happen. 3.gif

Plus, most people would not want everything in the pack.  I don't use most of what most people consider to be the best.

And there's not really any reason for it either.  You could either sort the STEX by downloads or rating or something, and download things, or you could download a single massive zip, and the browse the zip and install a handful of things.

Or if the buildings are related, you could do what the BSC does, and you could upload things in big sets, but a lot of people don't like that.

And it would take a lot of work to get it all coordinated, when there's not really much of a problem to begin with.
