So, a nice day I opened my SC4 and then loaded my city, but I had a little surprise:

unbugmetw1.jpg

It has already happenned to me once or twice, but when I exited to region or the game, then got back into the city, it would just go away. But now I tried reloading the city, I loaded another city, then tried to load my main city again, but this bug just wont go away this time.

I desperately need help.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Are the streets still there? Try re-dragging the streets. See if that helps. Did you download any street mods recently?

It looks like you have a mod that isn't loading correctly, try renaming the folder with a ZZZ prefix. If it is not in a folder I suggest creating one for it.

no, all I got is NAM, and I've been using for a long time. As I mentioned before, I have already had that problem previously, but it got fixed after I reloaded.

Redragging will do, but it would be so workful, too dificult and would take lots of time.

for anyone who is wondering, thats my version of brazilian's favelas in SC4. xP

hmm do you have the latest version of the NAM, did you have any previous versions, and if you had a previous version did you use the uninstall for it or manually delete it before installing the most recent version?

nope, I started using when the last one was developed, I never got any previous version.

and there is no way I can delete this city, it is the capitol I'd say of my region, having 200.000 inhabitants, providing 10.000 IHT jobs and 160.000 commercial jobs

I think it looks cool - your city's all primitive now - virtually no traffic! haha

No, this seems to be system corruption. Reinstall ...and make sure your hardware and OS can handle the game.

You should be able to salvage the file - do so before you uninstall. Keep it secret, keep it safe!

Since it has been an intermittent problem it starts to look like hardware.  This game exercises the daylights out of your RAM.  You should run a RAM diagnostic.  There is one from Microsoft that beats the bits out of your chips.

Also, try some disk maintenance.  If your swap file is sick, you might want to move it to another drive.

Uh, I cant believe I forgot to tell this:

The streets, roads and avenues are actually gone, totally gone. Even the "No road connection" zot appers on top of them.

Also, I wanted to have this very clear: ONLY some part of the city had this problem, also, out of 8 cities in the region, this one, the largest one, was the only city to have the problem.

If it's really a RAM problem, it would affect the whole city, wouldn't it? also, if its really a RAM problem, how can I solve this? Will I have to upgrade some parts of my computer, like motherboard, RAM, processor?

Thanks in advance, also thanks everyone who tried to help.

I think if it was a memory failure, you would have more problems than part of the city missing.

I still think you need to look at your plugin folder and see what is going on there.

I will tell you what I did, two days ago. I did a fresh software install on one of my computers. When I copied the documents folders from the other computer, I inadvertently dragged the plugin folder into the region folder. When I ran the game, you can guess I had lots to brown boxes, missing textures, and where ever there was a left turn lane, the road/avenue's were not there. It actually looked very simular to your image.

The only plugin that is involved with transit I recently installed was NAM(about 2 weeks ago).

However, I started getting this message, again, only on that city:

    bugsp8.jpg

    Shot at 2007-07-08

Now, *****ux is that plugin pack? =|

    Thanks in advance.

PS: Quality is bad because I resized it to 800 x 600 on paint.

I already started re-laying the whole transit network, but its gonna take LOTS of time.. and I wish there was an easier way to solve this, especially because I work a lot with tunnels, since im working on a hill, totally irregular terrain, like the real favelas(brazilian shanty towns). Some of these tunnels are easily re-done, but some just wont be made again! It requires lots of hand terraforming among a lot of houses and streets, so it is really dificult, workful and time consuming. Thats why I'm so eager to find a way to solve this problem, again I apreciate everyone who has helped or even tried to help, really, thanks.

Wow, that looks like a crazy problem. I thought initially that the road were there but not rendering (i.e., they weren't visible) but your photos confirms that they are missing indeed. I wish I could help but I'm stumped, especially since it only seems to affecting some roads or parts of the map. Maybe file corruption???

I know that it would be a pain in the arse but what about re-laying all the missing streets/roads?

    My computer is ok I guess, 120gb HD, RAM 512, Pentium4 3.0, GeForce4 MX460...

Bla bla, I'm pretty sure its not a computer problem, if it was, as tungston said above, it would've affected the whole city, not only some parts of it..

Zarp, ive had similar problems in the past with transit systems disappearing; for me, it was when I built a city using the NAM and then later had accidently deleted a number of dependent files, in that case, my transit system, like yours, simply disappeared. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix. You'll just have to re-implement the network all over again. I can guarantee you that is NOT a memory problem, virtual, RAM, and processing memory does NOT work like that in game.

sorry for the double post, but, also, looking over things again, i really think its a mix of conflicting mods, and/or missing mods, and the possibilty of corrupted files. If its just mod issues, its a matter of (however tiring) just re-doing yer roads/ etc, and checking your Plugin folder for any possible conflicting or missing files. If however, it IS a corruption issue, then sadly, you will probably have little choice but starting from scratch. No matter what, SAVE the original city file JUST IN CASE
