Okay, I have found some downloads to enhance my game, but every package is full with programs that aren't recognized by Vista!

To be more precise, only blanco pictograms appear that you can't open. Even with the option of finding a program on the internet.

Hmm, cant see i have this problem.

I have vista, and when i download, there is no problem with the instal program besides from vista asking me at the end of the instal if it was instaled correct, where i then answer "Yes". It have happen a couple of times where i was nlucky and answered "No", something that makes vista starting looking around to find a solution.

But any problem downloading and instaling wouldnt be anything in my experience.

Are you the administrator? Everything works perfect for me. What version of Vista are you using?

Go to the control panel, select classic view from the left hand side panel. Then select user accounts and it should say whether your accoubnt is standard or an administrator. If your account is a standard account I would seriously advise changing to an aministrator.
If you are an administrator go to the program you can't open and right click it, select properties and then select the compatibility tab, make sure you chack run as administrator and select for compatibilty mode, Windows XP (service pack 2) Then click apply and try to use the program again if it does not work try reinstalling/redownloading it.

PS could you be specific about the programs you are trying to use?

Okay, I am the administrator but I still can't acces the files.

Uhm, the icon is a white sheet of paper. When I have donloaded the Hole digging lots for example. And that is all I can say because I am not the computer-ish type.

And btw warrior, the right-clicking thing does not help since even with administrator rights, all I can do is change the file name.

I don't think Vista can open .zip archives.  XP could do that, but I don't think this feature ported over.  Download and install  WimRAR, and you should be good to go.

Odd... It should be able to. Unless somehow it's become unassociated with zips.

Afstand: Have you tried going to open with and then winRAR?

So I'm not the only one cursing Vista? I considered attempting to convert to XP it got so bad...

If the files are WinRar compressed, Windows XP, or WinZip, neither one could open WinRAR files. I have not tried opening WinRAR with Vista
