Bigger city and skyscrapers

Ok, first of all, i have SC4: Rush Hour, but I always get stuck on about 5000-10000 of population. How can I expand my city, I mean, I don't want a big city in area, but in population. I would like to have skyscrapers too How to do it? Thanks, I'm a ***** in the game.

Are you playing on hard mode?

Because if all you want is a big city, that'll really limit you. Or maybe you need to place some kind of reward to get rid of a demand cap.

Or you could just download the super demand mod.

If you play the game correctly without cheats you have no choice but to build a huge city area to get few skyscrapers , the larger your population the more demand you will have available for skyscrapers . Playing on hard makes the city grow slower , which sometimes isnt a badthing , but doesnt restrict the overall size of the city,in the end.

There are caps for demand in SC4. You have to use something to break the cap so that there will be further demand again. Parks are an easy non-cheat way. Place a variety of parks, that might help.

I plop lots of Commercial buidlings if I want Residential and other Commercial skyscrapers to shoot up, oitherwise I wait and let it grow.

Another way, and a bit cheaper is to use the Terraforming tree tool.  It is only $3 per tree and you can alter demand and desirability for the land pretty quickly, or even bring back (some) abandoned buildings with a liberal planting of trees.

The only problem is that if the plot is rebuilt into the more intensive use (i.e. you have moderate residential, but only getting single-family housing), you lose the trees that have been planted, and have to start again if you want to add more trees.

Lastly, this really only works when you have demand for that type of housing (or commercial) on your RCI Demand meter.
