This has probably been answered before, but what would you say the dimensions of a medium tile in SC4 would be in miles?

A medium tile is 2x2 km IIRC. That would make it 1.24x1.24 miles.

    Out of interest (in case anyone knows to stop me counting the tiles myself) how large is one tile?

    16m x 16m

    That makes a small city 1024x1024m (64x64 tiles), a medium city 2048x2048m (128x128), and a large city 4096x4096m (256x256)

    Centuries or spacial dimension?  Spacial dimension is 4 x 4 Km.  A Km is 5 furlongs, a mile is 8 furlongs.  Now you have a calculator program on your machine, So take (5*4)/8 = miles
