Help me with my high tech

I am having this problem keeping my high tech industry in business.  I have a full demand for high tech industry so demand is not the problem.  Every time I zone for it though, I get what is shown in this image.  Abandoned buildings everywhere.  What am I doing wrong that is causing me to lose my high tech industry?

You are probably running low on water. High-tech industry needs water. If you have a lot of abandoned residential or commerical high rises then water is probably the problem as well.

Your water pumps wear out with time; when your city grows big enough you can build a large water pump that has 10 times the capacity of a regular one. Then demolish all your old ones and the maintenance cost should pretty much level out. Then make sure all areas of your city where you want high-wealth (including high-tech) development has the wet stuff.

If that's your problem, then there's your solution.

I've had this problem before, the Hi-tech industry is very picky and sensative to desirabilty problems with where it has grown. Check the land value and the hi-tech desirability of the area, and if it's low, plant some parks and put some commercial in the area, these seem to help increase the land value and desirablity. Oh, and the residential area at the bottom of the pic, re-zone it so that high wealth sims can move in, it's kind of weird logic, but it will help a bit.

Possiblily water shortage, power shortage, maybe extra pollution, or desribalibility levels.

desirabililty is the biggest factor, second is water. w/o these u will see dilipidation. make sure u zone in an area free of pollutents, and high in desirability. query the building as well, it should tell u why they left town in red letters in the query box near the top of it

there is either too much pollution, which i don't think is the problem. But i think that the demand is the problem if so just increase your city's population, also it looks like the dense industrial buildings have delapidated so try add some water to the zones if you haven't allready.

I'd follow His Divine Hand's advise, High Tech really wants to be in park like settings with a lot of amenities!

Well, water/power isn't the problem. The query says abandoned due to low desirability. However, why is the desirability low? I have tons of trees and parks nearby. I also added some more commercial nearby.

lol, one thing you could do that I just thought of is place an elementry, police station, etc.

In the zone then set the fundding to zero. That give you major disirability increase because of the land value.

    Just a thought31.gif

Check for garbage, crime, and pollution in that area. Any of those will make the high-tech move out. Also check education levels, high-tech requires well educated sims, so if you don't have enough they will abandon.

I don't see public transportation. How are far away sims getting to your high tech area? Buses and subway system.

Make sure you have plenty of parks and things to help the enviroment and increase desireability. If you put a country club right beside it you will have no worries at all. Everyone wants to work/live beside the country club.
