or else you'll offend those who know much about the real thing.quote>

Please - I don't think so... as long as there is a resemblance then that is fine.  If someone from outside my country decided to do a NZ city I would be stoked - I would not expect them to get every little detail correct.

CJ's are first and foremost about having a go, having some fun, expressing yourself in a creative way and are simply an intepretation of the author's imagination  - they are not meant to be pedantic exact recreations of the real thing even if they are based on a real life city.

The issue of terrain is that of scale ... the mountains that in reality are 100km inland get a lot closer when condensed into a SC region.  I imagine that Hotdog had that challenge when he made his world map ... the distance between the coast and the mountains would be just big enough to fit a mini city in.

Sorry to be grumpy, but honestly people, throw a dog a bone.

Well, if you've got such a limitation, you can actually change the elevation of Australia, but you'd need a special program to do it. SC4 does it, but all it does is actually lower the land.

SC4Mapper allows you to change the elevation exaggeration, so it'll appear more in proportion. If you join the BSCLEX (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex), you can download it from there.

Hi Alex, good to see you running with a new CJ.

I will be watching to see how you interpret the land down under.

Nice start with Perth, it's one of my favourite cities. For those who say that Perth is reasonable flat, try running from the city centre to Kings Park. Also, Perth does have a segment of elevated hwy although it is pretty rare throughout Australia.

Alex, scale is always a problem with a project like this. To be honest I don't care too much about this aspect, I'm just looking forward to see how how your cities turn out and how you incorporate the landmarks.

One thing to rememeber though, this is Australia so there is a pub on every corner.

While I'm here, abcvs, be nice to us Aussies or I'll tell them what you Kiwis do with your sheep!!.

Cheers

Dave

**UPDATE BY CLEANER475 FOR HOMEANDAWAY**

untitled.jpg

UPDATE 2 - DARWIN, NORTHERN TERRITORY.

Darwin is the capital city of the Australian Territory of the Northern Territory. A population of 111,300[1] (2005 estimate) makes it by far the most populated city in the sparsely populated Northern Territory but the least populated of all Australia's capital cities.

Darwin is situated in the Northern Territory, on the coast of the Timor Sea at geographic coordinates 12

anyway nice work on the city. what are those red/blue/green blobs? also even though its a mini-city, it doesnt mean all realism should be lost......this doesnt look a thing like darwin cept for the palms/beaches.

IDS2: That's about right for Darwin - the Top End may be characterised by desert, but half the year it is quite green and lush, because of the monsoon season.

Darwin looks quite good, and what happened to Alex? Internet problems?

Anyways, I wonder how you're gonna do Uluru and Alice Springs (they're actually not too far from each other...) - don't forget to use the desert mod by Cycledogg!

Well done, Darwin looks great... From the photos I've seen of it, you've got the bulk of the CBD about right...

BTW, slightly off-topic, but would anyone be interested in a Darwin region map? I've got the terrain data and it's very high quality.
