hey y dont u guys limit the amount of pics we can upload through simtropolis to encourage off-site hosting, becuz ive noticed alot of cjs wit pic hosted by simtroplis.......jus a thought

this was very helpful to most best point in me starting my CJ but the problem i was running into was posting the pics from image shack site like IE what use which line do i copy where do i paste and so forth that should also be knowing when first starting to post pics. with the help of choco i did get it finaly and this how to use image shack, make sure u checked the box to remove the size and resolution bar from picture and resize image can be set from the drop down menu also make sure that its checked to. then after u browsed for the pic u want to place into your Cj then hit host it button then it will show u all diffrent fields, the field u want to copy from is the "Direct link to image" then go back to your Cj and click on the little mountain icon and paste that line in there and then click ok then u r done hit the preview button and there should be your pic

I'm still finding out how the features on the new site are working, where I can find info etc. I want to add a picture link to my signature, but I don't know how to do it. The last version of Simtropolis featured some very useful tutorials in the Forums, but they're now gone. This thread is the replacement for that, but I only see a tutorial for adding a picture to your signature, and not a picture link. 

Ehm... wouldn't it be useful to make some new tutorials on everthing a cj'er needs to know for creating a cj? Right now I have to use the searchbar to find several scattered and incomplete topics that don't really help me further. It would be nice if everything is in one place, on top of the CityJournals forum. 

The topic could look like this:

Tutorials: 

- How to make a picture in your signature

- How to make a picture link

- How to make a text link 

Sorry but I'm one of those noobs who barely knows how to use a computer , and this would be very helpful, especially for new users.

Btw, the info in this thread about inserting a picture in your signature, isn't it outdated? Right now we can use the "insert picture"-button in the My Profile section, right?

utora: The signature box in the profile section now features a rich text editor. To insert a picture or a link, simply clic on on thhe editor buttons. For a picture, first incert a picture the same way has when posting, underline it and clic on the incert link button, the paste the url in the box.

If you need to resize your images, I suggest using Flickr image hosting. You'll be able to choose among several sizes without actually physically resizing your images.

One humble sugestion for all CJ authors it coud be very useful for readers of CJs to insert the Date of each new update in the subtitle of the topic, for quick review of the newest updates, It happens to me a lot that I miss some updates...well it's a though...

Heyy I just wanted to say that everything is all great info, but I am a little confused. I want to start my own city journal, I know how to adjust my pictures and such, but I don't know where or how to get my CJ started.  Like what files do I use to actually get my journal started cause Im havin a hard time with that.

manaman, if you mean you are not sure where your pictures are, they can be found at:

MyDocuments/SimCity4/albums/(name of region here)

Ah, I keep forgetting I have not yet updated this to the present ST forum picture posting guidelines.

Fortunately, the Help Squad DID do this for me, updating my guide on the Omnibus:
