No Boats or Transport Ships after RH Install.

I''ve placed dock after dock.. and port after port after the upgrade... but I see no boats. I can go into UDRive it and choose one to drive.. but none show up in the water. No Transport Ships... No Sailboats... etc. I get the parasail groupies with the dock.. but nothing else. Any ideas?

Got any mods installed from before you got RH? If you do, you might wanna remove them. Mods do weird things with RH.

Do you still have cars and buses and such? If not, you might want to check your graphics settings. RH resets them, and maybe it turned your cars/sims down to low.

I have cars and people and planes..etc.. just no boats.. I have all graphic settings on high.. I really dont' have any modded buildings.. or any issues with the one that I did create... hmmm... I'm thinking uninstall... reinstall.

good god man you dont need ANY expansion packs to see a hell lot of boats

heck back then while i was playing without the patch boats EVERYWHERE!!!!!

so many junks, sailboats, and tohose little boat things

u mainly just need deep water (VERY DEEP!!!) and $$$ and beaches

I've noticed that after installing RH I no longer get those large cargo ships docking at my seaports. Come to think of it, I don't see any boats just floating around on their own anymore - just the ones that are there for U-Drive-It. I'm not sure what's wrong.

At least I'm not the only one experiencing this.. I'm used to when I place the port.. the transport ship popping up.. but now all I see is the port filling with items and emptying.. but no ship coming around to pick it up.. I never see any boats at my ferry stops... or boats coming in and out of the docks... I think this is odd...

Well I found a bug with my port after installing RH, the ship prop was replaced by a flag. So I removed the flag props from my game rebuilt the port and it works fine.

Ok.. I removed all plugins... didn't help. Uninstalled/Reinstalled.. still no boats...

Did you destroy and rebuild the port? it is nessesary. And if you still have no ships (look at port there should be no flag on it) I have no idea sorry.

Probably wouldn't even have noticed it if I hadn't seen this thread... but now that I did notice- I want my boats back!

yah i noticed that i dont have the boats for the industrial docks....but i am getting the sailboats and stuff from the beaches.

I don't know what happened either, but I haven't seen boats in my game for months. I guess I'm just noticing this due to the fact that I've been paying so much attention to all the commotion going on with the Mod Gods working on the Network Addon Mods. I'd love to have them back if I can get them.

Turn up your detail settings. Maxis turns them down by default to cover their slow code.

Builderman is correct here.

The installation of Rush Hour automatically resets your graphics settings to low, to improve performance and slower machines (by todays standards anyway), so by changing your graphics settings to high you will get back a whole lot more than just your boats.

ehm... first of all sorry for bumping up an old thread, but since this is what I wanted to ask, I thought I'd better bounce on back up than creating new one.

I do have the same problem. No ships showing up anymore. i have all details on high but still no ships. the only ships that appear from time to time are ferries (if there is a ferry dock, of course), and the UDI ships from the sailing harbor.

But when it comes to all other ships... nothing. no cargos, no sailboats, no speedboats, etc.

and this happens at ANY water deapth, so this cant be the reason.

does anybody have an idea? as far as I know I don't have any ship-affecting mods apart from pegs industrial piers...

There is one download that I know of that messed up the cargo ships. MrTrueSage's Upgradeable Seaports download contains two files that made ships stop appearing in the game. These two files are "Cargo.dat" and "Tanker.dat". If you have these two, remove them and you should see the cargo ships reappear. The other boats tend to only appear if you have the Maxis Beach or the Maxis Marina in the city.

The boat traffic is controlled via the game's Effects Directory. If some plugin contains an altered version of the game's Effects Directory, this might be the cause of the missing boat traffic.

well, it seems to be another plugin than the seaports by MrTrueSage.

But I'll try the beaches and marinas first.

you said something about altered effects directory... how can I find out if its altered or not?

EDIT: I found the corrupt file. It was a file called dayofpeace.dat

please don't ask me what it is all about, it contained some animated flags, nothing else...
