    Which route should I-15 take in Eatonville.  I would like people to say which way you would go and I will pick the one with the most votes.

    NORTH or SOUTH????

    Thanks guys!  Your comments mean a lot.

    TRIVIA TIME:

    The Lancaster Region is not a real place -- but a few of the cities and landmarks are based on a real place or places.

    What real place(s) is Lancaster Region based on???

    Reply with your answer and the first person to name the two main areas of the US will have I-15 named in honor of them.

    (hint = it may be within more then one state but it is NOT outside the United States)

    And for this bieng your first CJ, this is a very very VERY nice city......proffesional even....great job!

    Thanks for the comments:  Yeah the question is kinda of hard -- but thats not the answer...... :-)

    Anyway here is a Highway map for Edwardton with the propossed new interstates as well.

    I-15 will run west from Edwardton to Eatonville while I-85 runs west to Belton and then up to Ivy and west from there.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Interstatemap.jpg align=baseline>

    A note about the highway system in Lancaster.

    The Interstate Highway System follows these rules (for those you may say your even is running the wrong direction /grin).

    North - South Interstates are EVEN Numbered

    East - West Interstates are ODD Numbered

    All 3di Interstates must have the number of the primary (N-S) Interstate in it.  If a 3di starts with an EVEN number it is a spur into or around a city - if it starts with an ODD number it is a LOOP around or in a city.

    Future Interstates may be in development for years and may even change.  All the above dotted lines are PROPOSSED Routes and may never be built if the city votes against it.

    I-85 is one of these problems.  It is a much needed highway for northern Edwardton but belton does not want it to run through there.  The other problem is the I-15 termnus -- Glenpiper owns the rights to the toll road running from I-330 to the Airport.  Should I-15 be connected here the toll road will be unused unless people see it as more convenant.  Glenpiper has asked I-15 to stop at the outter beltway.

    Outer Beltway - I-230 extentsion - Jonesville has the money for this extension that woudl make the Airport more accessable BUT East Bend has asked the freeway go more south into SimNation which is'nt the best route at all.  By having I-230 where it is shown here it goes right through downtown East Bend.  The people there are very concerned with this as they prefer NOT to have the increase of traffic, busines, and of course crime the new highway woudl bring with it.

    UPDATE 3

    Lets take a look at the airport and the area around it.  The airport was built in 1935 and the land was given by Greg M. Hoffman.  He was a land devloper and wanted a nice airport in the area.  Here are some pictures of the airport today.  Take note of the new I-15 signs that have been placed on the approach signs to the toll highway.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//AiportApproach.jpg align=baseline>

    Several airlines fly out of the airport and it see traffic levels at 850,000 passengers a year.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//AiportMainView.jpg align=baseline>

    The parking and terminal layout.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//AirportExit.jpg align=baseline>

    The main interchange of the city.  When I-15 is completed this interchange will be rebult.  Notice the new I-15 signs already applied.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//EnterAirport.jpg align=baseline>

    Greg M. Hoffman also owned the mountain west of here.  The Hoffman Science Center sits atop it.  There you can learn how airplanes work and how to blow up asprin in a comode.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//TollBothApproach.jpg align=baseline>

    The toll booth and road is owned and operated by Glenpiper.  They are all against having I-15 come through here.  If they get there way I-15 will stop three miles west of the proposed terminus and you would have to travel I-230 to get to the airport.

    As a person from VA, I like the use of VA state route shields for the state highways. Good job, I like the thought you're giving to your highway system. Do you have secondary/county routes too?

    I missed so many updates, and I have so many things to say! 34.gif

    I've been itching to build a nice international airport so I can make a transportation network for it. I just haven't been able to get my airport building skills honed quite yet. To liquidated_frog, I think the prices are fine, as day rates for long-term are always lower than for short-term. The blue overheads are a nice touch, with the individual airlines (Simtropolis-Dirk... nice...).

    Interesting that you reversed actual Interstate numbering rules, both the 2di and the 3di (I'm guessing that was partly directed at me... 10.gif). As for the under construction and proposed, My dad has a 1973 Rand McNally atlas with a ton of proposed routes that were never built... unfortunately in most cases...

    I say run Future I-15 along the shore. I don't know why. And my guess is Jacksonville, FL.

    Mini Update 1

    Belton Approves Interstate 85 -- Construction to be completed by 1972.

    Well after much debate the town of Belton has voted on the freeway.  Opponets of the highway site traffic concerns while proponets say traffic is already at a all time high and by building the highway it will lower congestion in the city and along US 306.  The I-85 bypass opened yesterday after 1 year of construction and one sole interchange.  Soon US 306 will become Bus 306 as I-85 is finished north toward Anderson and south to Edwardton/Glenpiper.

    Folks in Anderson were glad to hear the news while residents of Glenpiper were not because of the loss of Airport traffic from Belton and Ivy since Anderson will now be closer in time.

    Below is a new map published by the Highways For The Life of Lancaster Commitee.

    Yellow shows the current city limits of Belton.

    More information will follow as it is reported.
