thanx, it's loosely based on the new IND being built.

http://www.newindianapolisairport.com/

You're right about lengthening the runways, the single 36-18 at the top is only one to scale at 7280ft or 140 tiles based on 1=16m scale, 27L is supposed to be 11,200ft and 27R is 10,000ft. They won't fit properly at 213 and 190 tiles with the SSALS, plus the interstate is supposed to cirlce in from the bottom right side. I suppose I could bring it in from the bottom, only problem with that is that I will be transporting this tile into an existing region that happens to sit on that edge of the map and would then render the interstate non-functional, unless someone knows a trick to flip a city  :-)

I suppose third time is a charm, my first build was too close to the edge after I finished the terminal, lengthening the runways a little more will be a piece of cake.

jabl0me, that does look like what indianapolis international will look like when its done 36-18 (32-14) should be further apart from the ends of 27R/9L (23R/5L) and 27L/9R (23L/5R) which would also need modification of the taxiways in that area to make it look more like indy, but good looking airport.

thanx, if I were to do it all to scale it would run off to the next city region, had to make concessions some where, my first build actually was a little more realistic when I realized it wouldn't fit unless I made the runways way too small, so started over to what it is now...

update: lengthened the runways as much as possible within the planned layout, enlarged and rebuilt the parking area (who knows where can I get the cross overs from the garage to terminal I've seen else where?), and added the FedEx apron (have to find some huge warehouses that will look right to go with it)

here's a zoom of the terminal and the newly added 737s thanx to mike_oxlong

Great airport, except I think taxi times would be a tad long, however at most airports nowadays that's the case.lol, not like the one I"m about to show is any better in that regard.  Your terminal layout is fantastic.

Defloyd International Airport:

Stats:

Gates: 161

Terminals: 2

Concourses: 6

Passenger Capacity: 145,000,000 p/year

Highest Passenger Count: 143,093,483

This airport, in the state I'm showing it is set in the future, and these numbers are built to match the projections of Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport, and to actually overcome it, it is build in Chicago, and is the replacement for Chicago's O'hare Airport, which is currently the 2nd busiest airport in the world in terms of Passengers, at around 76 million passengers per year.  This airport is actually a large AJ, and you can find a lot more information there: Delfoyd International Airport

Pictures:

Airport-Aug13011200427659.jpg

The whole airport from above, as you can see its large, the runways stretch a majority of a large city tile.

Airport-Aug13011200427754.jpg

As a result of the airports past some of the concourse buildings have some unique archticture, like this one, first built in the 1940's it was rebuilt but kept much of its orginal design.

Airport-Aug13011200427471.jpg

For functionality the airport uses large yet tightly packed concourses with simple designs to "cram" as many airplanes into the midfield area.

Airport-Aug9011197246214.jpg

Defloyd has a well developed commercial area, and a large parking lot.

Airport-Aug9011197049331.jpg

International Terminal B has won awards in the past, and has the largest square footage of any building at Defloyd, yet processes the least number of passengers.

Thanks guys, feel free to comment, can anyone give me a good scale for runways?  How many tiles=how many feet.  Thanks!

due to the limited size of the current Puerto Joya International Airport, not to mention the potentially hazardous location (with high rise buildings along the runways path..lol whats the term for that?) and the noise the busy airport brings to the nearby residential areas, the Air Transportation Office decided to build a new airport on a reclaimed land at the Punta Joya Special Economic zone

unfortunately, due to some bureaucratic mess involving the contractor and the ATO, the new airport remains unopened

waway625: That's a very realistic impression of what airports in the Philippines would look like!  Nice work pare! 9.gif  Looks like Cebu! 4.gif

I downloaded the ACB-VLT terminals and jets series (amazing work!) and noticed that the cargo facility was very generic and not transit enabled. I used to have a cargo facility that was transit enabled for both street and rail and I was wondering if there is anywhere I could get that particular cargo facility? Unfortunately I don't have a screen shot of it because the computer I had it on got fried in a power surge (yes I had a surge protector), but it had the rail line running along the front (street side) of the lot and two streets with a gatehouse at the entrance. I am pretty sure I got it with one of the other airport packs, but I don't know which one and/or if it is compatable with the ACB-VLT terminals and jets series. Can anyone help me please?

waway625: Your airport looks great, I love airports that go into the ocean like that, give the pax a good scare as they come in! water...water...water...omg! ahh...on the ground.  The 737 pack was just released on the STEX.4.gif 737 variety pack, I think it still on the first page after you click on ST Exchange, if not its on the second page.

pilotdaryl: Thanks, and I  wanted it finished before I put it up here.  That 737 pack is amazing, makes me want that 777 pack even more.4.gif

I had the same problem with the one with the bright red tail (forget which airline)...

Anyway, all the others worked.

waway625: A whole bunch of planes?

They sure have a lot of planes at this site, even a PAL A340 9.gifWARNING: These planes are NOT lotted.  Swesim is currently in the process of making lots for these aircraft and Voltaire is assisting.

BTW the smaller jets are Canadair regional jets, common in America but not so common in Asia.

bighaben: Your welcome.  I haven't tried the 737s yet, but along with another bunch of custom lots I will get around to creating an airport sometime. 4.gif

pilotdaryl you have made my day. I have been looking for those planes for so long. All the links in other posts always took me to a page saying that the address I wanted no longer existed.

Thanks!!

Nice waway625, that's my next phase for my airport.

Here's another picture of Sydney International Airport. The runways and passenger gates are finished (until I get some good looking wide ones). I'm going to add a cargo port on the right side. Also want to make some new terminal buildings. The current ones are hardly taller then the 747's. There are now a total of 95 gates.

Yes pilotdaryl they are. What you see there is every piece I've made except for all the different angles and id pieces (pretty much everything but diagx runway crossing and ortho taxiway interections).

allez l'om your probably thinking of dedgrens stuff which is being beta tested. These one the other hand are my own creation which I don't really know what to do with. They are currently a hodge podge of textures without any modding. This works fine for me but isn't really something I want to release.

I need to figure out how I'm going to release them and if I'm going to modd them. Once I do I'll put them up on the STEX.

Edit: Yes, I know these are PNG format.  Rather than complain, go here:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Here's my little contribution.  This is a very urban airport (well, for the most part), perhaps most similar to Gatwick in that it is large but with only the single runway.

The Overview of the airport.  Terminal 4 can be seen in the South (bottom) while Terminals 2 & 3 and the Cargo facility are on the North side.  The airport is split by a rather busy span of roads, highways, rails, and commercial canals directly through it's center.  The nation's aviation authority has exempted the airport's safety certificate for the unique overpass citing the necessity of the airport over alternative locations:

TheEast-Sep24551200728202.png

An overview of the Terminal 2 & 3 complex.  Part of the original terminal serves as the rail station for the Northern terminals.  (parking is as yet unfinished):

TheEast-Sep24551200728268.png

Terminal 2 - This is the oldest Terminal at the airport.  The terminal was built in the 1940s and serves all sizes of aircraft.  A single jetway was added when Concourse C was built on to Terminals 2 & 3, connecting them inside airport security.  Previously, exiting the terminal was required to transfer to other terminals.  The original terminal (part of it) now forms the railway station):

TheEast-Sep24551200726320.png

Concourse B (Terminal 3) - This image is my favorite.  I like the Thai MD-11 at the plane stand rather than the Jetway:

TheEast-Sep24551200726221.png

Concourse A (Terminal 3):

TheEast-Sep24551200726277.png

Terminal 4 - physically further from Terminals 2 and 3 by road than Downtown is.  The terminal has excellent connections to the city's roads and metro:

TheEast-Sep24551200726081.png

Terminal 4 and the Transit station - Inter-terminal trains travel along the nation's rail lines with regular 'heavy' rolling stock.  Local service trains also serve inter-terminal traffic with two intermediary stops (visible in the overview).  Buses and Metro-rail transit is available at the station (via the GLR bridge visible in the Terminal 4 overview and the exposed track section east of the airpot).  In total, the Terminal 4 station has 6 platforms (when added to Northern Terminals' 6 platoforms, the airport has a total of 12:

TheEast-Sep24551200728388.png

The cargo area - this area can also serve passengers from gates at terminal 4 if necessary (via bus connection under runway and under canal), though airlines are not allowed to schedule usage of the gates (only unforeseen circumstances):
