Hey just wondering if you believed in ghosts

I personally do as I have had two experiences of paranormal activity....

1. When I was 5 I was sat in my front room when I suddenly said to my mum that there was a man in the hallway watching us through the door but when she looked there was no one there, I then said that he was tall and had shiny buttins, who was this random person??

2. Then a few weeks ago I heard voices in my room, I assumed it was my sister and her friend but when I walked in I heard somone say shhh and there was definatley no one in my room, my sister and her friend and my mum where out the house so there was no one else there... ARGH!

So what do you think and has anything hapened to you in the past

O and if you visit but dont want to leave a post just leave your name as politeness

Thank You!!!

nope, not at all...I think that all ghost sightings are purely psychological manifestations, or just plain misunderstandings (carried sound waves, etc)

There's one in my house... I've never seen it but my friend has. It is a man and I truely believe he lives in the house. My house was built in 1865 so there bound to be lots of um! After my friend told me this, I was a little freaked out but now I am deteremined to see him walking around somewhere.

Yes I do believe ghosts exist, but I have never come across one, and I haven't been to any haunted places, but something tells me they exist.(besides, it's not like I'm wasting my time looking everywhere for them or acting paranoid, if I come across one, I come across one. then I'll have something to tell 3.gif)

I live with one.  Only seems to "appear" Sunday nights though...creepy.  Her name's Emily.  Well that's what we call her at least.  She mostly just stays upstairs and taps on the windows, or knocks over boxes and sometimes whispers things into my brothers ear.  Not sure if hes lying or what.  3.gif  I try and talk to her sometimes but she never really "responds" with voice but kind of makes you feel weird and watched.  Maybe just my imagination.  One time someone opened MS notebook on my computer and typed up "hello how are you i'm ok".  I came home from school and saw it thinking my brother was pulling a prank on me and was hiding somewhere ready to jump out at me soon, but it turns out he went to dads and mom left the house before I did in the morning...but how would a ghost know how to type?!  3.gif

Actually, I saw her once.  Middle of the night of course.  14.gif  Scared me half to death!  I was just watching TV in my room, when all of a sudden this orb-ish thing zooms across my ceiling like an LED pocket light...then this girl, maybe teenaged, kind of appears when I look over towards my window as if the orb went right towards her and I didn't notice her there before.  She was just looking out the window and kind of glanced at the TV and then I blinked and she kind of went away...not dissolve or anything, its hard to describe actually.  But it scared the crap out of me.  9.gif

So yes, I do believe in ghosts.

I do, most definitely. Ghosts, souls and/or spirits. I know they all sound the same, but depending of who you ask they are not. So I am just trying to cover my bases. LOL

Ghosts/souls/spirits most likely do exist, but I haven't met one yet. It would be cool, but it would be really bad if it was malevolent and I was stuck with it for a long time.

Ghosts may exist, but it's all BS to me until proven otherwise.

For that matter, the subject could use further study.

I think I believe in ghosts, I don't know though. It seems possible that someone could leave behind an "energy residue" that causes people to see a "ghosty" looking figure. Ah, I really don't know, but I do know about weird stuff happening in my house. Not this hosue, this is a new house, but I used to live in a house that was relatively new but built on the site of a big farm-house/orchard house kind of thing. It was a nice big house, but there was deffinently something up with my bedroom. Me and my brother shared, and he sleeps like a log, but unless I'm very tired I take a long time to go to sleep, so I would lie with my brother snoring away in the bed next to me, and it would suddenly get very cold. I never saw anything or heard anything, but even in the summer, my room would randomly get very very cold. One minute I could have pulled the covers off because it was summer and it was so warm, and the next I would pull them up around my neck because I was freezing! I don't know what I think it was, but my mum has also said she felt this in my room sometimes...

Jammy: Probably a good one, because she seemed innocent from what I could even see of her...she'd probably have done something bad by now if she was an evil spirit.

Hotdogs: Lol, it was 3:00 am though!  3.gif  But it was a realllly real hallucination if that.

lol, I don't believe in ghosts but I do think there are spirits/whatever out there, maybe not dead people but definitely something.  I personally think there is one at my grandma's house, I've never seen it but I can feel it there.  Like some people have siad.  You just... feel it.  And know that there is something there.  It doesn't scare me though, I dont know why 41.gif

Yeah, a lot of people have said that they don't believe in ghosts. I don't THINK I do, but you know that feeling when you turn all the lights off... The hairs on the back of your neck stand up, you want to walk faster but you know there's nothing there, you want to pull the covers up when you hear something outside, you swear you can hear voices but the house is empty, you see something move in the garden in the dark, did you? It's something everyone feels, and there is no rational explanation for it, it's just some deep psychological feeling instilled in you since childhood when you read cartoony books about ghosts and saw Halloween editions of kids TV shows.

I don't believe in ghosts, I don't think so. But when I turn all the lights off downstairs I want to run. When I turn all the lights off in my room and want to get into my bed as quickly as possible. And I certainly would never dream of going into the attic at night...

I live in the middle of a forest.  Ghosts are definitely one of the beasties around here that go bump in the night.  We have Raccoons, ground hogs, geese, ducks, rabbits, foxes, all kinds of birds, bats, insects (fewer thanks to the bats), etc.  None of them are white, semi-transparent, nor scary.  Not of them say "Mark me" from below the set.

Yea i believe in ghosts.... considering that my apartment suite is haunted, and i think the spirit of my mom's best friend follows me around... I know my apartment is hunted, because 2 weeks ago my mom came home late and i was on my laptop in my room, she didn't tell me this story till the following morning, any ways she asks me if i had any friends over, i told her no... then she tells me about a person she saw in the dining room window looking out: Colonial era Army solider, and had a red overcoat, and he also looked like he had a rifle in his arm, he also looked like he was in the attention stance... later that evening i get up to get a drink and i see this white lady standing in the hallway... i blink once and she's gone.... then there was the incident that happened on Wednesday night, there was a kid walking down the middle of the street, car goes by and he goes right through it.... and finally theres the incident that happened on Thursday, in the middle of English class I'm listening to my i pod... then i here someone call my name... then i take off my head phones, and i ask if anyone called my name and to my surprise no body did, then friday comes along, and i get hit by a car on my bike on school grounds, and just as i get up off the ground and pick up my bike i see the figure of my mom's best friend staring at me then i blink and she's gone, and these are just things that have happened since i moved to Canada, about 4 weeks ago.

    Heck, why not?

Once, but a few years back, I woke up normal, about & A.M., but didn't get out of bed yet. All of a sudden, a rendering of my dad's college picture, but only the head, appears and gives a loud, loud yawn. Very weird.

Nearly every weekend, in the morning, I hear a loud banging noise outside. It seems like it's coming from the backyard...hmm...

About a year ago, though I didn't attend, and this was no lie: 7 of my friends AGREED that they saw a ghost. They had all been awake so they walked across the streetto the neighborhood park to play basketball. Then, about 15 minutes into it, they heard a piercing scream and some lights turned on. Then, the air smelled like orange juice and they ran home screaming like a bunch of baboons. 3.gif

    How about one more...

I swear the house that my (I think it was grandparents maybe greats, not sure) lived in is haunted. Very tiny, built in the 30's, smallest on the block. Deep brown with yellow trim. Ugh. 9.gif You walk in and the light was on! Very odd. I found out that my uncle had visited 5 minutes earlier, so it was him. Then we went to the kitchen, where the old green sinks had brown and black scum built up all around it. Now this is really creepy: turn around the corner and there is an old-style elevator with no walls, only a bunch of boards and a rope. At the bottom there are old dirt walls and, in a metal safe, a bomb shelter 3.gif (cold war lol) with old pictures and books. Really creepy.

Sometimes I hear voices from downstairs when there is no tv or anyone else home...but it's just my overactive mind.

    That's all for now.

Im with The boy formerly known as Evil Muzz, I dont believe in ghosts

but there is something,I know the feeling, ive been in old buildings and Ive lived in places where there is a lot of history thats not all good. Your in a unfamiliar and dark place, and you get this cold rush and you think someone is right behind you

I think its your instincts, a survival thing to stay alert when your in a place where your kind of vulnerable

Another thing is that they are FUN to believe in. Have any of you guys listened to Coast to Coast AM before?

No, I don't believe in ghosts. I believe in God, yes, and becuase of that I realize alot of these so-called ghosts of dead relatives are just demonic forces. It may seem stupid to someone who thinks you have* to throw something into a testtube and beaker and test it to know if it's true, but it's what I believe, hands down.

I believe is angels and demons. And there are probably 'spirits' of the dead sent for some reason...Demonic forces can be some of the more frightening things for me to speak of at least. I honestly get much too frightened when I speak of some of these experiences...I'm getting serious chills just sitting here.

I don't believe in ghosts, spirits, or any asociated hocus pocus. I think people will see what they want to see. How has society programed you to imagine ghosts when there is nothing? Since you were a child watching disney you've seen ghosts, so often that they've become real.

Then there is the pyschological / instinctual element. I can't really explain what i mean by that, but i think that when your senses lack anything to send to your brain, your brain compensates by creating things, just to stay busy. Instinctual: example - fear of darkness ect.

    Never saw one!

I think this has mostly to do with personality. People who do believe in ghosts, will often claim that they have seen at least one. I've got really afraid sometimes when half-asleep, but these are just illusions, I can only remember cases like being mistaken by my hung clothes or some (dim) light entering from outside.

As a child, I liked to explore an old storehouse - with a basement - feeling no fear of the dark. Other kids were afraid to get in, and were waiting for me outside!

It does depend on your point of view on these things.  There was something at my sister's place.  She thought it was our grandfather (who died before we were born) coming to say hi.  Her roommate thought it was a heavenly angel coming to bring people to the Lord.  They both saw it, at different times, and had different interpretations of what it was.

Me, I missed the whole thing.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Well, I'm not sure if I'd call them ghosts... that's so Hollywood. I'd call them spirits. When I was 3 years old, I saw a man in my guest bedroom (I don't remember this at all... but my parents and other relatives told me about this) of a distant family member who commited suicide that I never met nor saw. None of my family nor anyone else had photos of him hanging around anywhere because it brought tears and pain to them according to my relatives. However, I told my parents that I kept seeing a man in the guest bedroom. Everytime they went in there, they told me there was nobody there. So, after a month, my parents were starting to get angry at me for telling them this every-so-often. So, they came up with an idea. They wanted me to draw a picture of him. I did and showed him to them and they were completely shocked. There was absolutely no possible way for me to have seen him because I've never seen a photo of him and yet I saw him. This relative was my dad's dad (my grandpa) who died before I was born. No one ever talks about him and no one ever has his picture out... Again, this could be a massive lie from my parents and relatives! 3.gif I don't remember any of that because I was only 3 years old at the time, so most of that story came from my parents.

Edit: and since I was 3 years old, I didn't draw well at all. However, the distinction in my drawing was the curly orange hair that my grandfather had.

I have never seen a ghost...but I might have seen a doppelganger...I thought I saw a science teacher from my school district driving his car but I knew he didn't REALLY live in my town or anything...and now he's had a triple bypass surgery and is dying of lung cancer (I didn't really like him anyway though).

my english teacher last year said a ghost caused pink yogurt to cover an entire room in her house once.
