No doubt everyone here will want to take some form of action to get the SimCity game that we want. But remember a few things first:

1) Civil! Has to be civil, give no hint of vulgarity towards EA or TM and they would have no reason not to listen to you.

2) Numbers! We need a lot of e-mails/e-signatures etc. for any relevant action to be taken, now surely we can all do this as a site of 170,000, but maybe try to organise a mass sending of e-mails amongst your friends.

3) Formal Tone! When you are sending an e-mail or posting on their boards it would be best to keep the language formal to show what an intelligent bunch us SimCity 4 fans are.

4) Don't go OTT! Don't go Over the Top, if your e-mail or post is too long and wordy then I doubt the high-up people in EA or TM will take the time to read the entire thing, especially when faced with a mass number of these! Keep it short, sweet, and get your point across. Anything more than 10-12 lines is overkill.

5) Repitition! Make sure you are making the same point as others! It sounds basic, but someone might interpret somethng differently to others. It's no good one person arguing for one thing, and another arguing for something contrary. Not only does that create a conflict in the group, but our targets don't know what to listen to and may disregard our campaign - not what we want.

Some of these things may sound basic, you'd be surprised how easy it is to be uncivil, lose your formal tone, type too much and make different points from everyone else.

Remember, we have power, we can use it!

One last thing, everyone try to convert the people who tell you "Yeah but it's a huge company, what difference is it going to make?" We need every support we can get. No go out in your masses and send civil, formal, breif e-mails all making the same point in your masses!

Something tells me that EA has nothing to do with this, except to take the money and publish the game (not necessarily in that order, though).

You know, he's just trying to keep people like your from ruining the next SimCity project for us all. The sarcasm in your post is what making this whole issue childish and immature. Please refrain from posting unless you have something nice to say.

Perhaps someone could develop a form letter? To clarify, a pre-composed letter that contains all the points we wish to make to EA. Ideally, the contents of the letter would be decided on by a few of the senior ST members, completed with proper headings, proofreading, and such, and then made available to the ST community to copy/paste into an e-mail.

EA, I imagine, won't be bothered by a few dissident voices. Nor will they give much consideration to a flood of flames like "OMG YOU SUCK EA WHY U RU1N SIMMCITY?!!?!!1", no matter how many they get. It's likely, however, that they could be swayed by a large number of people sending a CIVIL, clearly worded, intelligent complaint about the way they have treated our beloved game, especially if that complaint included our intentions to boycott, not just SimCity Societies, but ALL EA products - including Spore.

Just an idea for the form letter...

Mr./Ms. [Last Name]:

I am writing to you to express my concern with the direction being taken of the development of the game presently titled "SimCity Societies."

I have enjoyed the titles of the SimCity franchise for many years, and I am a loyal member of its fan base.  I am even a member of Simtropolis, a large internet community dedicated to and centered around all things SimCity.  Simtropolis' membership exceeds 100,000.

I have read reports about the present course being taken with SimCity Societies, and I believe that it does not remain true to the SimCity franchise at its core.  The fans of the SimCity titles, including specifically SimCity 4, have grown to appreciate the details and complexities offered in the previous incarnations of the series.

If current descriptions of SimCity Societies are true, it seems that this to-be-released game will miss the mark with SimCity's fans and stands to risk alienating the community I am a part of from the franchise.

It is my hope that a place will be found for present fans of SimCity in SimCity Societies and that things that make SimCity unique among its peers, such as intricate networks and facets of higher-level city planning, will remain a part of this legendary series of titles.

Yours Very Truly,

[sender]
