running EXE-Installers and WIN-Soft with Darwine

DarWINE, the macintosh version of the well-known windows-api simulator for Linux allows you to run Windows executables (*.EXE) on non-windows operating systems without needing a virtual engine running. While it is usable on Linux to run the Windows version of SC4 incl. all the tools without bad performances and errors, the functionality is limited on Mac OS X. - it allows you to install Simcity but not to start it - it does not support programs like iLive Reader or DatGEN. But with Darwine, you can run nearly every EXE installer to install custom buildings that come with Windows installers. It is completely free and an alternative to the commercial payware FileJuicer. Please try it out! I will support it a while... Using the Windows version of SC4 on OSX may be possible in the future. http://darwine.sf.net The installation of Apple X11 is obligatory.

Sounds good but where do you find "Apple X11"

X11 is on your install disc.

I found X11. Thanks for your help, but have yet to try DarWINE.

For darwine, just install the .DMG image (Intel or Universal). Then right-click on the .EXE and select Open With WINEhelper.
