Welcome to Langstrath, situated in the heart of Strathshire in the Brenntian North East.

Not a major city, but instead built on the merge of several Railways.

Langstraths History begins in the mid 1700's. As a small fishing village, on the trout rich River Lang, the city saw major expansion in the 1850s when boh the Eastland and Birmingsfield Railway (EBRW) and the Birminsfield and East Coast Railway (BECRW) merged together along with the Strathshire Rural Line. Langstrath Station became an important Interchange station and the city expanded around it.

The city is still busy with the Railways today, one of the most interesting features, just outside the city limits is the Stalling Viaducts.

langstrath1dr6.jpg

the first Stalling Viaduct was built in 1851, but in the 1960s, newer, faster trains were being developed and the viaduct was deemed unsafe for trains travelling over 90mph. The new Stalling viaduct was built to take intercity traffic with a speed limit of 140mph.

With the railway, came wealth. Ravenseat, characterised by its Victorian Terraces, has become one of the most sought after areas of the City.

langstrath3mu1.jpg

Newbiggen was built in the 1930s and lies to the east of the city centre. it is one of many neighbourhoods built at the time in the 1930s period style.

langstrath4jb5.jpg

The dominantly low rise Langstrath City Centre lies to the south of Central Station and will be seeing much development in the coming years.

Another typical neighbourhood. Selside. Built in the 1930's.

This concludes my introduction to Langstrath. Check back soon and maybe leave a comment!

Looks good. I will be eager to see what else you do with this area. You have a very British looking town- well done.

Cjah: Thanks for the comment. The new bridge was actually a result of the NAM Rail bridges incompatability with the UK version of the game, but i like the effect created.

Granto93: Thanks, i tried to model something based on Clifton in Bristol or South Kensington in London for that area. But on a smaller scale.

Seahawk Fan121: Thanks mate, it is the style i always go for in my CJ's but playing on a smaller scale allows for a much more realistic road system.

Mightygoose: Ok ill remember that for the next update.

Frogface: Thanks, again the two bridges are a favourite bit of mine. Yur work has always been an inspiration though.

Sculmanator: Thanks, i am going to expand the city till its around 250,000.

Godzillaman: If my CJ gives you ideads, then go ahead and use them 9.gif

Waldner: Typically British, the 1930s houses form the bulk of British Suburbia in real life.

Crushedcar: Thanks, i didnt notice the grid but ill remove it on update 1.

homeandaway: You will see more soon! 4.gif

haha glenni, well you can cach this one.

    Langstrath: Update 1

Lets take another look at Langstrath City Centre and Ravenseat.

    langstrath1lf2.jpg

Ravenseat Roundabout, Ravenseat Road runs north to south (left to right) whilst Borough Street crosses it East to West (top to bottom)

    langstrath2um8.jpg

Ravenseat Bridge was built in 1820, and remains in full use today.

    langstrath3ku1.jpg

    Langstrath Market in full swing.

    langstrath4zd0.jpg

Sir Walter Raven was a famous Brenntian Explorer. He is reponsable for discovering the Kirahama islands. He created several colonies in the Kirahamas throughout the 1800's and the islands are now a state of Brennt.

    langstrath5nz4.jpg

The tight shopping streets of Langstrath, typical of many Brenntian Cities. Strangly quiet in this picture.

Thats all for update 1. Update 2 coming soon.

    Looks really good.

I like the integrated history - gives the city a real feel and the buildings give a good blend of old and new just like most UK cities do.
