Daeley released a path creator at https://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=546

Here is his description

Lot Description:

Pathing modders rejoice! This tool packs a collection of utilities that should make it possible to create paths with far less trial-and-error:

Point-click add/delete points to a path

Import and edit existing or newly created paths trough the text interface

Easily customize individual path properties

Examine and rotate paths in Perspective View

Add background pictures to place paths more easily

Check paths in adjecent tiles for alignment with the Multipath Viewer

current version: 0.97

This tool was created in Java and requires a JRE (1.5 or higher) to be installed. If you visit sites with applets, you will probably already have this.

Hi warrior-

In addition to picking up Daeley's program over at SC4D, I'd also check into redlotus' Interchange Tutorial, which discusses pathing, and can be found here.  I will warn you that it is dense reading material at times.2.gif

i tried reading that tutorial but it didn't tell what to do once i got the paths. If there was a tutorial for puzzle pieces it would more helpful than an interchange tutorial.

warrior:  Well, technically, the process for making interchanges and puzzle pieces is actually quite similar.  They're both what is known as Interchange-base Related Items (IRIs) and they're put together the same way.

That being said, redlotus' tutorial is quite dense, and there are some things that have changed in the process since 2004 (when the tutorial was written).

As far as actually getting the paths into the game, the easiest way would be to use iLive's Reader and just copy and paste an existing SC4Path file, change the IID to that of your new piece, and paste the path data you got from Daeley's PathCreator over the old data.

I'm hoping to write a new tutorial on various aspects of transit modding sometime in the near future, when RL and various projects calm down.  In the meantime, though, if you have any other questions on that end, feel free to PM me.  2.gif

Ok, in order to get the puzzle piece working, you'll need to make an effect (the model that appears when the puzzle piece is selected and turns red when you can't plop the piece), and the program just makes the code for that effect, ready for data entry, well, just read redlotus's tutorial to see how it works.. 29.gif Just fill in the fields that the program asks you (instance ID, effect names...)

Has anyone thought of making a program that makes it easier or something, or is that not possible.
