Welcome one and all to my second CJ, finally being uploaded after a week or two. My first CJ was New Fairview (in my sig) and I'm trying to grow out of that a bit, try to be a bit more professional. My plugins folder is half a gig full, and any tips during CJ posting would be friggin sweet.

This one is built on Golden Harbour, a region uploaded here (I forget who made it) it is my ideal kind of region. It's not too flat but hilly with nice gradual coastlines ideal for beaches. I'm mayoring with a 1990 tileset, and right now developing some farming towns to get things started. The population is at 3,342. Here are the overall pictures and some close-ups:

The farthest northwest block has actually been incorporated, and I'll show that up in the next update.

The first city I graced was Shelbyville, particularly south. I like this place the most right now personally. The population is 2,098 (63% of region)

And here's South Shelbyville
Shelbyville-Nov.jpg

Further north is the smaller farming town (currently unnamed because the block it's on takes up both the inland and the island... any ideas for a name?) It is a ferry hub connecting Shellbyville island with the mainland and has an industrial sector. The population is 1,232 (37% of region)

The town (not much I know)

The whole place.

So far that's it. Please, I'm hoping to see some constructive criticism here!

Looks nice, the only constructive criticism I can give right now is to put more trees. Keep it up!

I didn't think of the trees, but sure...more trees are always good.

Looks like some nice rural development you have already. Building on hills can be pretty challenging sometimes, and you did it well. Keep it up

Oh yeah, looks like you have some pretty nice Japanese retaining walls too

like that guy said above, my suggestion would to put somthing in the blank spots, wether its a pond by peg, or some seasonal trees, which would look great there.

since u want to make this look more proffesional, i would suggest downloading photofiltre, its a free photo editing program that i use in my cj preston. it lets you add effects and borders and stuff, good free program.

I have to agree, the trees are realy the only element missing from this! Excellent work btw on the low wealth areas... While I agree I hate the look of low wealth homes, they are necessary for every city.

One thing to me that sticks out like a sore thumb though is the you shouldnt have used such tall pine trees to divide off your farms... smaller trees would probably look more realistic. Other than that, keep up the great work!

another thing you could do is line the coast with trees or beaches or rocks, the square 90 degree farm edges look kinda funny.

photofiltre is pretty easy, you just gotta fool around a bit and find out what you like and what you dont.

I would agree with several of the comments above in reagrd to trees. I have seen this on the planning pages and I like it, it has great potential and I wish you all the best with it. If you need any help or assistance with planning or anything else then let me know.

Thanks for that, guys, I guess I could use some shorter winter trees or lodgepine or whatever instead of douglas fir.

Personally, I love the look of medium wealth. Ganter (Northernmost of the island) is seeing some medium wealth but most are having trouble with employment, and commercial and industrial developement are stumbling despite the demand... Really not making sense but we'll see next update.

Perhaps I can divide the farms with seasonal woods and do... something to smooth the farm-water transition 2.gif

Last night I finished naming every street in the region so far, and we're about to move into the inland soon... More to come next update.

You named every street I don't have the patience to do that, I would explode with the total annoyance that would cause me. Loved the small update, the houses looks great.
