Sponsorship Program

I was recently asked if the sponsorship program is active. I think it's an excellent question and time to revive it.

For those who missed it the first time around, in the sponsorship program, various people (like me) offer to sponsor a donation to Simtropolis in the name of student(s) who can not donate on their own.

To qualify for a sponsorship, you must be a full time student (middle, high school, college, or university) and PM the potential sponsor completing the following sentence: I would like to donate to Simtropolis because __________________.

It is up to each sponsor to determine the amount of the sponsorships they are offering, the deadline for submissions, and who among the applicants qualifies.

I am offering 5 sponsorships of $5 each. Offer expires May 31, 2005. Please PM me if you are interested.

If anyone else is interested in becoming a sponsor, please feel free to chime in.

Great idea reviving this program.  Our younger member should take advantage of this.  I might take advantage of this as well, but I'm not sure which side I'll take.  I might become a sponsor or offer some of my own, not sure yet.

I recommend it, Dalai, it's fun.   Don't forget that sponsors can pick whatever amount, however many people, and whatever time frame they would like.  Do what works for you.

i would like to congradulate MayorTim and ThatMonkeySim as my first two sponsor...at this point, I still have three spots available. btw, i did not set a deadline, pretty much for the purpose in that there is no deadline....hopefully, i will have enough interested before that date, anyhow.

now, i will follow that up with what is probably a rather foolish question....how in the heck do i make sure those who i am donating for get the proper credit? i see an option to remain anonymous, and one in which i can donate under my name - perhaps i am missing something quite obvious here?

I put a deadline in because, last time I did this months ago, no one was interested. 

 

As to the names, just let Dirk know what name to put on there. 

 

Are you using PayPal?  I did and put Sponsorship Donation on the subject line and explained the situation in the memo field.    When Dirk thanked me and I asked him if he could put the sponsorees names on the donation page.  He said sure.  If you aren't using Paypal, just PM Dirk and let him know what is going on.

The sponsorship program was a great success last time round, and I think that reviving it is a great idea.  I just wanted to say thanks to all those who offer sponsorships to donate to Simtropolis, and to all those hard working students out there.. PM these people!!
