Could someone please give me a link to those, I'm too lazy to look in STEX, even though I should, since my sim city 4 is apparently 200 miles away, and I miss it.

Not a damn thing. You know the STEX exists, and you're obviously connected to the internet. So you're either completely e-tarded and have trouble using a 'Search' function, or you're just a lazy leeching little git. You sir, suck at the internet.

Hello Interchnge, I'm afraid that you got off on the wrong foot with your fellow members here at ST. If you have legitimate problems with something you'll be amazed at the help that will be offered. Saying "I'm to lazy to look" is not the way to get help. Please search (the search function is to the left) on the STEX (the button is above) for the things you need/want. Then if you have real legit problems ask again, politely, please.

Wow it's nice to get a kind response for once, and on my first post, even though I shouldn't have phrased it that way, I was seriously just joking when I said that I was too lazy to look, I have no idea how the STEX works and barely even know how to get to the mods, the ones on the front page are pretty much all that I've seen, it's nice to be so welcomed here though isn't it?

Well cry me a river. 21.gif

Come on dude, stop acting victimized. Filling in "Canal" in the keyword search of the STEX would net you a page of results. The buttons above the search results(New | Popular | Top Rated) guide you towards the stuff most people use. Just try some of the options and different keywords out, it's not rocket science.

You can give a man a fish and feed him for a day, or you can tell him to get off his ass and learn so he won't bother you anymore, is what I always say.4.gif

Or people can just help out a fellow gamer out and stop wasting time posting insults? I mean yeah, what was said was due to his lazyness, but would it hurt you to post a link if you could find it or get to what he was asking alot quicker? Most of the posts could have been disregarded if someone posted a link... problem solved right? Yea he could have used the search box and didnt, so you post negitive insults and putdowns instead of a link? Not everyone can and will understand what people say, even if its as simple as drawing a picture for them to follow, sometimes people need some extra help to find what they are looking for. Your only being helpful by doing what someone asked help for.

Thats my outtake on it all and hopefully i can continue to see more helpful people then the people who just like to insult and not help.

Hello! Would you like a glass of water?

Stack interchanges come from the NAM. The are under 'Custom highways' in the highways menu once installed. It also contains roundabouts, ground light railways and underground versions of the ground railways. Plus, there is a new network tool that I think we haven't finalised yet...

Here is the direct link: https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/download.cfm?id=380

Welcome Interchange! So you were joking (honestly, I was a bit indignant when you said you were too lazy. ) Navigating the STEX is very easy.

    1. Click on the SimTropolis-EXchange button on top.

    2. Browse the newest files, or search. If you are not logged in, you can only see upto page 3, not look at details, or search.

    3. Type in the search box what you are looking for, or press Go.

4.Browse and download at your pleasure. Watch out for dependcies, you must download them for the lot to look right.

The modds and downloads are pretty similar. For most new interchanges, get the NAM mod.

    Welcome to ST!

See, that's the problem. I've got no problems being helpful, I've got a problem with people expecting complete handouts. Why should a post that comes across as rude receive anything but a rude reply? What does it hurt any newcomer to just be polite? You'll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, and all you need to do is realize that the world doesn't exist to serve you.

And really, insults? If any stranger on the internet could hold such sway over his feelings, then he'd better turn the computer off and hide in his closet so that the big mean reality won't hurt him. (Uh oh, I didn't insert the requisite emoticons in that post, now he might cry! 8.gif)

I'm pretty sure this Interchange isn't all that fragile or lacking a sense of humor, so lighten up.2.gif

Dude, it's the internet, why would I care what people say? To me...you're a size 10 font with an attitude, but thanks to everyone else for helping. And what is the NAM exactly, is it part of the STEX? And Jan, if you don't have anything nice to say, then maybe you shouldnt' say anything at all.

That link opens up to nothing, not sure if it's my computer, does it work for anyone else, if it does then it must be me, and if that's the case, where do I find the "NAM"?

It would seem that posting the link directly to the download starter doesn't work. That url probably means nothing unless it's accessed from the description page by clicking the "download" button.

So go here and click download for the NAM:

    https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/index.cfm?p=details&id=380

Note that finding that took me 10 seconds. Click on "Modds & Downloads" on the top bar, and it's on top of the list of most downloaded items to the right.

What may be the confuser is that it's not on the STEX. See, we've always kept modd files separate, since if not done right, they have the potential to harm your game. As such, not just anyone can post something in the Modds and Downloads section, only those with permission. This is a quality control measure. Anyone with a simtropolis account can upload to the STEX, and there are a few more amateur modds to be found there, but that exchange is intended for lots and BATs. The loophole in it is that the STEX accepts uploads of ZIP files, and you can put anything in a ZIP file. It is moderated, though, so if you post something inappropriate, broken, not SC4 related, or otherwise unfit for posting, the file will be locked/deleted.

I'm sorry I didn't understand that you were joking - it's difficult to "read" intentions on forums like this. To answer one question, NAM is Network Add on Mod, which is a mod to make the networks (road, rail, GLR [ground light rail], etc.) work more realistic. You must have the Deluxe version or the Rush Hour addition for it to work. As a matter of fact, you must have Deluxe/Rush Hour for most of the stuff here to work. Also, you need the updates from the official SC4 site. Good Luck,

    Vicki

I see there is a proper link here for the NAM, so I won't repeat ti.  For the STEX  So, now go search for the lot types you need.

You really need to spend some time with the Omnibus as well.  The link for that is at the top of the page.

And here is a link to the newcomer's thread.

well, since the other 3 are easy to find, I'll simply assist in the harder one.

https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=12679 Landscape Designer is a useful tool for making config files and maps from images...

...however, the most useful terraformer tool is

    https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/index.cfm?p=details&id=391

    The SC4 terraformer.

I would make the links clickable...but I'm a bit too lazy to open the reply window 3.gif

Thanks...I found pretty much all the things that I needed and more, but what are you talking about here? I went on that site the other day and used to go on it all the time but I haven't seen any updates, I was pretty sure I had everything that I needed.

There hasn't been an update since 2003, but you still need the old updates from Simcity.com since they aren't installed with the standard game or rush hour. Deluxe I don't know about, probably not though.

Exactly, which is why I thought it was stupid for the other guy to start screaming we shouldn't "insult" you.

Most can handle what others say without giving even the worst insults a second thought, but God knows some people are more fragile than others. I'm kinda shamed to elect me in that position – people start attacking me for reasons I don't quite understand sometimes, and I get so mad I wish I could just find them and rip them apart. And no, I'm not exagerating...

I just think courtesey and politeness should apply to the Net as much as in real life... I mean, why spend our time destroying each other when we could be helping each other instead, right?

Not to hark on about anything, just throwing that out there that not everyone is a stony hulk that can take anything. Real people can get real(ly) offended and hurt.

And now I realized I should have eaten hours ago, that's what playing SC4 will do to you.

BTW, you do need the "EP" updates from simcity.ea.com, even with Deluxe Edition – as I found out to my expense when I lost half my cities to some damn bug related to not having the darn updates yet.

I’m a guy who just can’t guy right.
