Take a look at the attached pic to see what the problem might be. I get this when using the right mouse button, to scoll across my town. I can rid it by either zooming in or out, and back again. Some times it happens alot and other times it is acting normal. Has me spellbound.....

Sounds like you have an ATI raedeon graphics card. If you are only seeing base textures when scrolling around the town, and sometimes the buildings above them are not drawn, you are left with a flat base texture only. It's a hardware limitation of your graphics card. I experience that as well, but a zoom in zoom out makes it all look normal.

SWEET !!! the upload worked..... The pic is not a good example of what is going on, but none the less it shows some of the quality issues the game or hardware is producing.

I dont have an ATI Raedon card, I do have a Nividia GeForce 7600 GS PCI Express installed. I am leaning towards your thoughts Gnargenox, cause on a previous update, a match was found for my card using the "Windows Update".

For Constantina, what you advised me to do,  to get the pic loaded, is over and beyond me.  I have a hard time trying to get anything uploaded...LOL...47.gif

The other pics I wanted to send were over the limit for the attachments file size of 1.0 Mb.  28.gif

The first 2  were taken while the game was paused.

The third was taken at "Turtle Speed".

oh my thats just horrible looking, and not what happens to me. Maybe it's your horizontal or verticle hold knob on the tv that needs adjusting. hehe j/k I hope some one else can help. Oh try the imageshack for hosting pics- upload to their site and copy paste the first "forum" link they post after they upload your pic. paste that link in here and your pic shows up. It super easy unless you are posting alot at once. They also allow up to 1.5 mb pics. http://imageshack.us

My mind - This is a problem with your graphics card - try looking for right driver for Nvidia GeForce (may be not latest new....). Today I have Nvida GeForce 7600GS 256 Mb and driver NVIDIA FORCEWARE 91.47 WHQL and there is no any problem with this ....

    Thanks ...

I am using ATI x1600pro, and I am using Omega driver 7.1 (an improvement over plain vanilla ATI driver 7.1?). I also got the same problem with SUNSHAWK. At most, it is always always exit to desktop. Partially I fixed the program by using:

    "C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -d:DirectX

    in the SC4's property icon.

I am trying OpenGL (I know, experimental only), and looks ok for rendering and as fast as DirectX, but I can't use my mouse to move around (only can use 4 direction buttons on keyboard).

Trying software, and it is terrible slow for big city. Small city still ok to play.

    Regards,

    Arto.

By the way, anyone know and can advise the best driver version of ATI CCC for SC4+RH?

    Thank you in advance.

After many tests to rid my situation, I am on the verge of reverting back to XP Home. It's the last thing i can think of to fix it. I know for sure it will run on XP, but good god, all the file transfers. 46.gif

But what bugs me is that Vista posted no problem before. Must have been a recent update with windows. But who knows.......42.gif

Know what ?   37.gif   I did move the background files also. I had a "starry" background. Come to think,  It  posed no problems before that.

But it's to late, for me,  I did a complete system install with Vista. I was on my last string of options.  Have not yet installed SC4 to the PC. But when I do I will post any fixs if any.

I dont remember where I put that background file. I think it was located in the Program Files Of SC4.42.gif

    Hope that is the fix............

oh no! but anyway, you should continue on with the moving background files but if worst comes to worst, you probably want to dual boot with vista/xp. SC4 really doesn't belong on vista...
