Yep, are you sure you installed BAT4MAX? The script installer should add the ui element automatically.

If you installed BAT4Max correctly, its UI should be under that. Something like this>

Well, I have a problem here. I open a .skp file and then, I exported the LODs. But when I open Gmax and the file, just a white box appears. Do you know what I have to do?

It is suppose to be just a white box (3 boxes actually). They are the LODs that are hidden when in 3dsmax.

Go to Utilities>BAT>Export and exports them to create a SC4MODEL file. At this point, the SC4MODEL file is just a 'blank' building.

Just follow the instruction in the BAT4Max thread 1st post.

*sniped!*

Guys, I'm having a problem with previews in my bat4max. As you can see in the picture, the previews simply aren't in the same angle as the one that sc4 uses, and my textures aren't showing up correctly.

I make all my models using skecthup, and I would be very thanksfull if someone helped me out.

Thank you very much for the attention.

Either manually remove all of the BAT related things (camera, light xref, helper objects) and then press the bat4max buttons to reset them, or start a new scene, press the bat4max buttons to set the stuff up, and then go to file>merge and merge in your BAT. But when you merge it in, make sure you ONLY merge in your building, and not other things like helpers (TB2CameraHelper is the name iirc) or cameras.

It looks like you somehow moved the cameras.

The other thing is it looks like you have a units problem. When you start the new scene, make an object 16x16 m which is the size of one tile in the game. And then when you merge your building in you'll have something to compare the scale to to make sure the scale/units is correct.

This error - yes I'm asking how to solve an error again =/ - is appearing when I try to import the LODs to Gmax:

    ncdp.jpg

Then, I tried to ignore it, and opened the Max, imported the model and appears another errors, and in the end it says that the day and night versions were exported succesfully o.O

Well, on SC4 Plugin Manager the model did not appears, probably these errors are the responsible.

    Can anyone help me? (agaaaain)

This is just a guess. When you import the LODs in gmax, did you deselect 'Convert units' ?

Thank you very much Jason, I'm really in debt to you  :thumb: !

However, I'm still having issues with the textures, some are showing incorrrectly.

Many thanks for the help :D

It's possible that some of your settings in sketchup or some of your export or import settings, or something else to do with the conversion from sketchup isn't set up correctly. I would personally recommend doing the texturing in 3ds max.

Well, I read the tutorial, and it's everything ok with the configurations, but the "Error 6" continues on Gmax and Max.

    ncdp.jpg

    I found this on Devotion:

    Error #6 - Error rendering/saving zoom 5 rotation 1 view. Possible causes:
    •   File sharing violation. This typically happens when the Lot Editor or the game is running.
    •   Output file is write-protected (read-only).
    •   Running out of memory.
    •   OS error.

But I don't think is that.

"Error 6" literally means "there was an error somewhere" so it's a completely useless and uninformative error message. :(

Those are some of the causes, but there are many more, and so code 6 has always been mysterious.

I tried here now just to make a box and make the way, it worked! But when I try to put a custom texture it doesn't work, so the problem is actually a texture I'm using, now I have another problem, in lot editor my box is not a box, but colored pixels o.O

Look that, in the preview and when rendering the BAT is ok. But in the game it's...weird! Someone knows how to fix it? It's strange because it's like this just insede the game :(

    Thank you.

(the BAT it's not like this anymore, I texturized it, it's almost done, but the problem is there)

    This is a gamma problem.

The framebuffer (the window in 3ds max that has your preview renders) shows the images directly, and when the files are saved the image files have a certain gamma. If you're using max 2014, the way gamma is handled is different. I don't know much about it myself but others have posted in this thread and in the bat4max thread.

As Jasoncw stated it is indeed a gamma issue.  Your welcome to try the updated script i created.

Sorry to disturp once again, but I'm having a problem with exports. If I posted in the wrong place, just igonre me

Here's the thing: I make stuff at sketchup, and export them with 3ds max

The problem is, altough all renders show up correctly, at the LOT editor and at SC4, my stuff end up showing up incorrectly at zoom 1 and 2

    Take a look

Schriefer: This is BAT4MAX related. Try to delete the Xref scene all the LODs and the "TB2CameraHandle". Then merge your scene in a brand new one and recreate the Lights and Camera Rig.

Maloskero: If your model is modded as a Props, check in the PluginManager if it's visible at zomm 1 to 5.

Since i've hit a dead end with gmax, regarding rendering issues. I figured id scrap gmax and just start using 3DS. So my question.. Is their a steep learning curve from Gmax to 3DS? Ive only just become familiar with Gmax, so im hoping 3ds is going to be easy to pick up.

3ds max has way more tools and stuff which makes the ui look overwhelming, but as far as the basic things you need to learn, it's easier to learn on 3ds max than it is to learn on gmax.

I only had time to try this today. Delete the Xref scene you mean is which file? I don't know where is that (sorry about that, I'm learning yet), and LODs I think you mean go to the folder and delete it, ok, but and the "TB2CameraHandle"? I don't know what is that  :lost:

I tested here just to make a cube and try to import and the same issue is happening, I tried another models and it's happening too, I think it's starts to happening after I install gamm correction to 3ds 2014.

Lets try the opposite approach to making this happen.  Create a new scene and do a File > Import > Merge in 3ds max and select your original file that was having issues.  Import all the objects from the scene making sure to UNSELECT LOD3, LOD4, LOD5 and TB2CameraHandle.  This has the same effect of deleting them as you will not import then from the file.

The gamma fix for max 2014 only overrides the default gamma behavior for Max 2014.  If your not using Max 2014 the gamma fix won't do anything for you, not sure what version you have.

Droric, I tried what you said, but when I open Max, click File > Import and I try to open the file appear the message that format not supported o.O but it's a 3ds file, I can't understand it.

I said about gamma fix because I started to have this problem after install it, maybe I did something wrong.
