can anyone help, 3ds max seems to not want to run the bat4max on my 2013 version of 3ds max. . . here is what happens....... it says runtime error: copy error on file: C:\program files\autodesk\3ds max 2013\scripts\startup\cptb2startup.ms what the hell does that mean :P

If you run on Vista, 7 or 8, this is for you.

"Winodws XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7. 32 and 64 bit version of all these system are supported. For Windows 7 (and perhaps Windows Vista) UAC – User Account Control must be disabled prior to installation of Bat4Max v5. After installation/setup had finished if you want to turn it on again you would need to enable write rights (or full control rights) for your account/user name for gamepacks folder. Alternatively you can keep UAC off… 3ds Max could be uinstalled into any folder including one with empty spaces in path, like the default one, eg. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3 ds max ####\"

Since I'm using Max2011 I seem to have an issue with the shortcuts for the different views.

Normally pressing F gets me in the front view, P to the perspective view. But when I'm in Edit mode (like editing polygons, or spline vertexes etc) pressing the shortcuts has other commands attached that seem to do something to the model I am editing, not sure what.

Does anyone know why that happens and how to change it?

I looked in the shortcut list, but there is no other command assign to P for instance other than Perspective view... :???:

I'm now using 3dsmax, and making a new BAT, but it seems that I can't see the preview (I do have BAT4MAX), it says that there's some script error or something, anyone know the problem?

(I'm using 3dsmax 2011)

Hello everybody...

Well, I have a little proble, just see by yourself:

So a question: Why? And can anyone solve it...? :/ Everything is ok apart that... don't understand. :(

The problem appears when I click on "Day" in the "Let There Be Light" menu.

I have a problem my self too, wich is about, idk how to export, and porblems exporting.

I made a small box in gmax BAT, and exported it, then went back to my model on 3dsmax, and exported the LODs (successfully), and then I selected the target model, wich is the one I made earlier (*.sc4model) and then clicked (2)day export, when I do, a error shows up (code = 6!) so I click ok to creat ->FSH were created congradulations day export have been successfully completed!->day export have been successfull.

and I have no idea what does that mean, or should meanI have no idea how this expot thing should work.

help pleas? (exporting step by step)

    IL, you need to:

    1. Make your entire building and LODs in 3ds max. You don't need to open gmax until you're exporting.

    2. Export your LODs from 3ds Max (the button in BAT4max will do this automatically).

    3. Open Gmax, and Import your LODs. Use the BAT export to create a .SC4Model file. This is the same as if you were exporting a BAT made in gmax except in this case all of the renders are blank because there are only LODs in the scene. This is the only time you ever need to open gmax, and it will literally only take a few seconds.

    4. Now that you have a .SC4Model file, go back into 3ds Max, and use BAT4Max to do the Day export of your building. BAT4Max will make renders of your building. Then it will replace the blank renders in your .SC4Model file with the renders from max.

    Where do I find the exported LODs? I can't find them in my plugin folder

    Do I made the night rendering over the same file or export the LODs again and do the same thing I did for the day export?

    I think it have something to do with the light options, like in the preview you have three lamps (one red, blue, and green) that you an turn off one of them, try to find something like that in the rendering options (the same menue you find mental ray and others), I remember seeing something abit like that, changing colours).

    I don't know if that helps of not, just saying.

    Hi,

     

    Question: I just started learning 3d modeling today and one part of the tutorial I'm reading is about symmetry & bend modifier. However, I can't find it all. What am I doing wrong?

    Okay, nevermind that first question coz I figured it out. Now, my problem is that I can't seem to make a y-axis mirror. As you can see in the image below, I was able to make one for the x-axis. But when I create another one for the y-axis, nothing is showing?

    You are in a front view, my guess is that your transform mode is set it "view" when the symmetry modifier works in worldspace. You do have a y axis symmetry right now. The "y" that you are seeing is, in reality, what would be the z-axis in world space. 

     

    If you want to symmetry down, then do it with z not y :)

    Hey guys.

     

    I recently started using 3ds Max and I'm having a issue. The shapes I make are invissible. So when I make a shape and klick it away my shape looks gone, but it is there. This is what I meen:

    Your viewport looks to be set to "realistic" which means it will try to render it sort of like it was the final render.  Since your shape doesn't have thickness it might not have anything to display.  Try changing it to realistic + edged faces or something like that to see.

    Sounds like you could have your viewports configured incorrectly of something. Like Jason said, try setting it to 'shaded' or something along those lines - to do this click where it says [Realistic] in your previous viewport screenshot and experiment with the options. Also you might have various categories hidden (most likely shapes or geometry). Make sure those categories are not hidden. In the same vien, you might be trying to create to a layer that you've accidentally hidden. I do this sometimes. Make sure all layers are unhidden.

     

    If all this fails, your PC/ graphics card might not like 3ds Max's new default viewport rendering software. Try changing your viewport display mode to Open GL or Direct 3D.

    Ive uninstalled everything and installed the 2011 version. That worked. Still tx for helping me.

    Greetings.

     

    I have a problem with exporting bat file from 3d max.

    I have 2 set 3d Max (9 and 2009).  For 3dsmax 9 I have set Bat4Max 2.6, and for the 3dsmax 2009 - BAT4Max 5. In 2009 I have a problem with exporting the final renders to a model file, most likely because-directory with a space in the address( have errors). At 9 is good, but the quality of the render is very poor, it is soap, and as if in violation of the geometry of the object. Well, actually I make renderings in 2009 and add them to a 9 max exporting model-file? whether there is any possibility to do this? Or, you can achieve better quality rendering in max 9, at the 2009 level?

    Thanks and sorry for possible mistakes. (Translate in google from Russian into English).

    If you have max 2009, and BAT4max 5, then why are you still using the older max, and an outdated version of bat4max?

     

     

    The gamma in max 2009/bat4max 5 is not set up correctly.  In the BAT4max thread there are instructions on how to set up gamma.

    If you have max 2009, and BAT4max 5, then why are you still using the older max, and an outdated version of bat4max?

     

    In 2009 I have a problem with exporting the final renders to a model file. I have to use the old exporter.

     

     

     In the BAT4max thread there are instructions on how to set up gamma.

    Thanks, but in BAT4max v5 thread is no picture with the settings for the 2009 3dsMax (Apparently the problem with hosting).

    Let's try to solve your exporting problems in 2009.  :)  What happens when you try to export?

     

     

    Yeah, it looks like the pictures are missing...  I don't remember exactly, but I think the settings are the same for 2009 but the UI is a little different so he made two separate pictures.  Try to use the picture that is there to figure out what to do for max 2009.
