I live in Breda, lokated in the south of the Netherlands. Breda is a very nice city with 170.000 inhabitants (and still growing fast!).

Some pictures:

This is the Havermarkt, nearby to the recently re-opened canal (de Mark). This is a very nice place to drink and relax.

I am sorry, but how is translating a dutch post and answering it unnecessary? I thought the language on this forum is English? I will delete posts that are unnescicary, and I am sorry if translating is just that, but maybe it would be an idea to redefine the term then.

@Fresh Prince of Wmbg: I don't really care to become friends with someone so easilly offended. Especially if that person seems to be able to make useless posts all by him self, without needing my help to do so.

@Moby92: Ive been to Breada once, but I forgot it was so beautiful! Very nice pictures!

I'll give you (some) of the pics I have off Amsterdam. I took them a couple of months ago when I was living there. I took them with my mobile phone so their low quality.

DSC00043.JPG

DSC00131.JPG

These buildings were basically everywhere in the citypart I was living in (I lived in building in the first pic).

DSC00117.JPG

The Amsterdam Metro was a bit of a disappointment.  i only had a Metro every 10 minutes, so it was very annoying if I just missed one.

DSC00157.JPG

DSC00170.JPG

The famous canals. It took some time, but eventually I loved them.

DSC00174.JPG

The Museumsquare.

DSC00108.JPG

This was on the train home. It's not Amsterdam but it's somewhere between Rotterdam and Breda (I think it's called Hollands Diep). Anyhow, I had never seen a river that was that big!

I thought I had some pictures of the Zuidas  and the innercity as well, but I can't really find them now. I'll post them later if I find them.

Here some pics of Delft, the city where i study.

It's a historical city between The Hague and rotterdam with around 100.000 inhabitans.

In the 'golden age', the 17th centurie, Delft was one of the most important cities of Holland.

The first picture shows the biggest church in Delft, with a tower of 100m. In this church the royal family is burried.

The second picture shows a piece of the old walls, and the last picture shows another big church in Delft, with a leaning tower.

Well.. I think this pictures are taken early in the morning. If you visit the Netherlands, come have a look in Breda in daytime, evening or night (our club-area is great!). Early in the morning you only see people cleaning the streets and filling pubs with beer.

@ WC_EEND (schaamteloze reclame, btw =p): I don't know, but maybe their is a thread about Belgium to show it in. If not you could make one yourself? 4.gif

Because showing pictures of Belgium here could be a bit confusing since not everybody reads what you type =p h

Nederland, atleast thats how we spell it in Norway, is truly a beautiful little country. Can't wait to go back there and grab a Grolsch! 2.gif

btw, when I go the Netherlands I mostly visit Holland, or Noord Holland to be precise. For those who don't know where that is, Amsterdam is in southern parts of Noord-Holland. We have some friends there who live a bit north, in Purmerend.

,take care

Hi everybody, I'm very surprise that nobody show by photo some buildings that are very important for European (and in particular for dutch) conteporary architecture, I mean wozoco's appartaments in Amsterdam (Appartaments for old people), Borneo Island (Northen Amsterdam), the college of Rotterdam and the art museum of Rotterdam.

Finally I hope that some good BAT designer build it as BAT object to enjoy in SC4!!

Hi everybody

I am a big fan of the Netherlands, having visited it many many times (A'dam, Utrecht, den Bosch, 's-Gravenhage, Eindhoven, Maastricht, Arnhem, Bergen-op-Zoom, Leeuwarden, Groningen, Middelburg, the Afsluitsdijk, Flevoland, I HAVE BEEN EVERYWHERE !). Ik heb ook een beetje nederlands geleerd, maar bijna alles vergeten.15.gif

I live in Canada now, therefore weekends in Holland are definitely no longer an easy option. Does any of you know if someone ever BATted the Euromast ?

Groeten uit Montreal

Fabien

Dit is natuurlijk altijd leuk en iedereen in Nederland kent het wel: de Bijlmermeer.

De flats zijn nu grotendeels afgebroken helaas maar de oude structuur is nog wel te zien op google earth (oude satellietfoto).

This is a nice one; everybody in Holland knows this notorious neighbourhood south-east of Amsterdam, the Bijlmermeer. The flats are partially torn down ("city renewal project" like they did in Chicago & St. Louis in the 1970s) but the original structure can still be seen on google earth (old photo).

Was it one of these the KLM Cargo plane crashed into (eighties or something, en-route to Israel I believe)?

This is not true. Belgium was not a part of the Dutch Republic....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bijlmer_disaster

It was an El Al cargo plane.

Apart from this darkest episode in Bijlmer history, the neigbourhood was already very impoverished, unusual for a west-European city suburb. 1990s urban planners blamed the 1960s urban planners, for applying their radical modernist ideas too extremely, for example, the Bijlmer had strictly separated traffic flows: pedestrians on layer 1 (no sidewalks), cars on layer 2 (each building had its own parking garage) and the metro on layer 3 (high elevated rail). Nevertheless no car accidents took place till the first elevated road was brought down to ground level ("city renewal")

I really love Netherlands for a reason I can't think of...I wanna go there sometime, but it is very expensive...I am a Filipino and a plane from Manila to Amsterdam costs a lot... So all I can do is to look at the pictures of one of the country of my dream... (The others being Malaysia, Germany, UK, France and New Zealand)
