The next morning, the storm subsided.

    waterworldcastlecloserzf4.jpg

Garis went to the dock. Their boat was on the rocks beside the castle, in ruins.

“I guess we shall be here a while,” Bistrom said. He sighed and looked around. “I guess there could be worse.”

“I wish we could get to that other island, though,” Garis said. He peered at it. “I don’t see any landing docks for boats, though. How did they get there?”

         The Old Man only smiled.

Garis shook his head in frustration and went back into the castle, downstairs. He began opening doors on the west side of the castle. They all lead to rooms or closets.

“There must be a way,” he said, scratching his chin. With a couple moments thought, he went back upstairs.

Garis went to the room with the broken window facing the other island.

    waterworldcastleeq1.jpg

He went to the door next to the torn screen, and tossed it aside.

It led down a flight of stairs. Without a word, he followed them. The Old Man and Bistrom followed him.

They went down a long hallway, until coming to a room with a hatch. Garis opened it.

They found themselves atop the other island.

    waterworldhelopadgq2.jpg

Garis began walking around the island.

“This is not an island,” he said. “This was man made. But…it has not been used for a very, very long time.” He knelt down. “The ground here…it has been scorched. Some of it has been burned away.”

He turned to The Old Man, who only stood there, his hands behind his back, a smile on his face.

“Was this island used to send ships into space – like I have read. Was this indeed a launching pad?”

The Old Man smiled. “It was. Many years ago. Many years ago.” He pointed to the other island. “That was where they watched the launches. The control tower, if you will.”

“What did they launch here? People? What did they launch?”

The Old Man only smiled. “That, that is something you will have to find out for yourself, young Garis.”

“But how? There is only so much I can do on this island.”

At that moment, a horn sounded in the distance. “Ahoy there!” they heard someone yell from the side.

“Garis!” Bistrom said, almost jumping out of his shoes. “There is a boat on the side of the island – just like ours! With people!”

The Old Man smiled. “I guess we will not be staying on the island for long.”

    waterworldcloserel9.jpg

    1.gifAnd Now, A Word From Our Sponsor4.gif

Don't worry, folks - we will not be staying on the islands forever (Though I do like this preppo BAT a lot). Well, I am doing this on the fly - I will be going to work soon - so I don't think I could properly do responses. Meaning, as usual, I will do those later.

However, thanks much for looking in, folks.

As always, comments, critiques and questions are not only welcomed and encouraged, but quite appreciated.

    Take care.

    Hi, MrC

Their first contact with the outside world--it's going to happen!  And who might the approachers be?  It's...

...Gilligan, the Skipper, too, the Millionaire, and his Wife, the Movie Star, the Professor, and Mary Ann...(Mary Ann??)

...uh, probably not, but that would be fun, wouldn't it?  Way more fun than some character from LOST or something, man, do they have some issues.

Is the fortress BAT by Prepo?  It has some really nice textures, and was just perfect for this segment.  Your storyline is nicely developing,

    Bye for now,

    1.gifAnd Now, A Word From Our Sponsor4.gif

No update just yet - perhaps later. I simply want to get replies done.

cowcorn - hehe - you are correct that, technologically, there is a lot more than meets the eye. Of course, the question also begs: "Why is it that the only person who seems to have had the technology in the village was The Old Man?" Hmmmm.

homeandaway - Oh, we will find out what is on that other island, as well - of course, for every answer, there are more questions.

hamsterTK - lol - I know the feeling. This is why I sometimes don't get a chance to post much in other journals. Wouldn't look good for an admin to have posts simply saying "Cooooool!"

And, yeah, my storm effects sucked. I am actually trying to do with only using Irfranview - and with as few photoedited shots as possible. In other words, I am trying to keep this pure and simple. We will see.

jacqulina - Thank you - and I agree that the fort indeed does look even better close up.

Firebird - I am sure we will eventually find out why there is a man-made island out there - the answers just do not seem to be coming yet, though.

The number of folders could be a bit deceiving - many of them are simply for different trees in a region - but, it makes it a lot easier for me to replop those trees, if need be. Seems like a lot of room and wasted space, but it helps me a lot.

2ch.net simplayer - Ah yes, buildings both old and new here. Almost as if built (or plopped) by a madman! 22.gif

MrCinatit - You know the drill.

Firebird - lol...I hope to post more tonight after I wake up, if everything goes well.

sEAhAwk fAn121 - Oh, we will find out, eventually. We will find out.

Livin in Sim - Heck, for all I know, they will run into some Monte Python character - could be the head of the Ministry of Silly Walks, for all I know!

And, yeah, the Lost characters do indeed have some issues - though I still think Hurley is the coolest lol.

And, yes, the island fortress is a classic Prepo BAT. A great one it is, indeed.

homeandaway - Oh, more will come soon enough. More will come soon enough.

Thanks much for looking in, folks. It is very appreciated.

And, as always, comments, critiques and questions are not only appreciated, but most welcome and quite encouraged.

    Take care.

The three looked at the boat. A single tall, lanky man stood on the deck. He squinted at them, his hand covering the sun from his eyes.

    waterworldhelopadym3.jpg

“Ah!” he said suddenly. “Ah, yes! Hello! We have been expecting you, but we certainly were not expecting you over there…listen…it would seem you are trapped, however, if you jump, bend your knees and land on…” he looked around the boat. “Uh…land on these nets, they just might break your fall. However, we do have doctors…”

“We will meet you on the other island,” Garis called to the man.

The man looked to the castle with a start, then looked at them. “Right-o, then! Jolly good show!”

A few moments later, they boarded the ship on the dock behind the castle.

    waterworldcastlecloser3sz0.jpg

The man stuck out his hand to the three. “Ah, yes, hello, my name is Smigeon. I am your greeting party, as it is. I am to take you back to shore, if that is convenient for you.”

Bistrom smiled. “Oh, it would be might convenient to get off this island.”

Smigeon smiled. “Ah, very good then, Mr…” he looked at a piece of paper. “Bistrom?”

         Bistrom smiled and nodded.

Smigeon looked at his paper again, pointing to Garis. “And you must be Garis.” He turned to The Old Man. “And you must be…oh…my…”

The Old Man smiled. “I hid on the boat. I am probably not listed.

“Oh, but you are…but you are only listed as The Old Man.” He looked at The Old Man. “May I have your correct name. You know. For records?”

The Old Man smiled. “That has been my proper name for so long, I can no longer remember my other name.”

Smigeon smiled. “Jolly good show, then. The Old Man it is!” He looked at the three uncomfortably. “Well then. I guess we…uh…well…uh…I guess we should be getting off, then.”

The others looked at him and shrugged. “Sounds good to us.”

    cliffcity4kv5.jpg

Without a word, Smigeon went to the sails, letting them up. Slowly, the boat began moving, going to the east.

“It is only a modest little community there…but we like to call it home,” he explained, as the shore came to view.

As they grew nearer and nearer to shore, Bistrom’s eyes grew larger and larger.

    pondersonshoresfarbr2.jpg

The Old Man watched the reactions of both men. Bistrom looked at the growing buildings, his mouth agape.

    pondersonshorestown2th0.jpg

Garis only scanned the shore, looking for a figure The Old Man knew would not be there.

    pondersonshorestown5fs9.jpg

“How…where did all these people come from?” Bistrom asked, eying the people on the beaches in the distance.

    pondersonshorestownclosoo5.jpg

“Ah, yes,” Smigeon said. “I knew that question would be coming up.” He consulted another scrap of paper. “Some of these people are descendents of people who have been kicked from the very little village you are coming from.”

    pondersonshoresalexandrug8.jpg

“Some?” Garis said. “What about the rest.”

    pondersonshoresalexandrjk0.jpg

“The rest? Oh, well, in ‘some,’ I actually meant all. Ah, except for the ones who were kicked out – like you!” He said happily. He looked at the three faces. “Oh. Terribly sorry about that. You see – we get terribly excited when new people come. You see it is a rare occasion. Except recently. Seems to be happening more and more recently. Not really sure what your bloody problem is – must be something in the drinking water, or maybe something’s crawling up your…” he caught himself again. “Terribly sorry,” he repeated.

    pondersonshoresseashellgg5.jpg

They grew closer. Bistrom craned his neck to look at the buildings that were now towering over the little boat. Garis continued scanning the shores. The Old Man continued looking at the two, a small smile on his face.

Bistrom cleared his throat. “If you all came from the village…”

         “More or less,” Smigeon corrected.

“Yes, if you more or less came from the village…how did you make all of these buildings?”

“Well, the surrounding trees, rocks – and from the boats they took after getting kicked out.”

Garis nodded. “Pretty impressive work with a bunch of rocks, trees and boat parts.”

“Amazing what one can accomplish when one is completely bored out of his or her mind!” Smigeon said as he moved the boat to the dock.

I've finally got a good collection of updates ready for posting - whenever I get them done - and a lot of pictures ready for editing after that.

Schulmanator - Thanks very much 4.gif

paceface - glad to have you aboard - though my updates schedule is not the greatest, I admit. And I really enjoy the green from the terrain, as well. Such a large improvement over the old standard SC4 terrain.

homeandaway - Yep, I've done the gray scale pictures from the past before, but there really is not much of a need for them here. In fact, there will be few pictures going back to the past, as almost all of our action happens "now".

Shadow_Assassin - Darn it! I was trying to make it sound like he was from Michigan! 3.gif

Firebird - I am sure they will meet a couple of people in this little seaside village - we will see

hamsterTK - That is a pain about some people who know a lot...either they want to show off their knowledge, or they want you to get the answers yourselves. Pains in the butts.

Thanks for looking in, folks. It is appreciated.

And as always, comments, critiques and questions are not only appreciated, but quite welcomed and encouraged.

    Take care

Very nice. Though, there's a bit of a repetition thing with some of the buildings. How come that's happening?

Other than that, the city looks pretty good. Would've expected greenery to go up closer to the houses, though. It looks kinda empty.

The little boat pulled up to a dock, where several people stood.

    pondersonshoresoceanicdao4.jpg

“Are all of these people waiting for us?” Garis asked Smigeon.

“But of course!” Smigeon said. “After all, you did radio ahead.”

“We did?’ Garis asked, glancing at The Old Man, who only smiled and looked at the ground.

“Uh…well, yes.” He looked at Garis, then The Old Man. “Yes, indeed.” He cleared his throat. “Well, then, I trust you should find some faces which look rather familiar…”

“Timous!” Bistrom yelled, pointing towards the dock. “Look, Garis, there is Timous!” He waved frantically. The figure waved back.

    pondersonshoresoceanicelh2.jpg

The little boat landed at the dock, and Timous jogged over to Garis, Bistrom and The Old Man as they walked onto the wood planks.

Timous stuck his hand out as he smiled. “Nice to see some more familiar faces again,” he said with a sigh. “Seems we are getting more and more every day.”

They walked towards a large building nearby. “This is the introduction center,” Timous said. “Here, you will be formally introduced to the city, if you like, and some of its people.”

    pondersonshoresoceanicexq0.jpg

“I think it would be best if we just walked around the city,” Garis said. “We could see so much more that way.”

Timous smiled. “Most go that route.”

“Have you seen Mary?” Garis asked.

Timous sighed and shook his head. “No. So, it is true. She has gone from the village.”

         Garis nodded slowly.

Timous looked around. “Okay, listen – you did not hear this from me. You heard this from no one. But – here’s the deal. As you know, some strange things have been going on lately…”

“The weather,” Bistrom said. “The Stars are not happy with us.”

Timous nodded. “The weather. But, a lot more. Some have said the nearby woods have been very active – there have been glimpses of strange creatures no one has ever seen before. Some have said they swear the trees themselves move. It is worse at night.

“I am sure you remember Maggie.” The others nodded. She was well known in their little village. She had disappeared several weeks ago. “She appeared here one day. She said one night; she awoke when it was dark. She said she saw a dark figure – a figure darker than the night – move through the shadows of the village. Maggie said it reached Mary’s house, then was gone again. Maggie said she was frozen in fear. As she lay there in bed, another figure passed her window – close. She said she could feel it’s cold, and it felt as though the world had frozen.”

Timous sighed. “Maggie told The Elders about it. They immediately outcast her. She arrived here several days ago – but she did not stay.” He sighed again, looking towards the woods. “She is also out there. She said Mary probably is, too.”

    Hi, MrC,

“Pretty impressive work with a bunch of rocks, trees and boat parts.”quote>

I second Garis' observation.  The Institute is very fitting, and the seaside tower in the previous update--it looks rather Egyptian.  The story developments are quite fascinating.  I hope Mary hasn't been kidnapped by The Legendary Black Beast of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh...

    Bye for now.

Shadow_Assassin - Yeah, the building repetition is pretty bad, for a couple of reasons. The main one being that I had to get rid of my entire plugins folder a while ago, and have been too lazy to redownload all of the BATs, lots and dependencies.

jacqulina - thanks much. I like the boat pictures, too, though I do have  a tendency to get seasick.

2ch.net simplayer - The stories are very much pre-planned 9.gif (though I have been known to change directions midstream...and have already made some minor changes)

    MrCinatit - shaddap

jacqulina - The Oceanic Observatory (I think that is the name) has long been one of my all-time favorites. So many details, yet it remains so simple.

Livin in Sim - The lighthouse is, in fact, the Lighthouse of Alexandria. A nice one, it is.

Fortunately, we do not have to worry about an attack from the Legendary Black Beast of Aaaaarrrrghhhhhh, thanks to the recent and premature death of the animator.

hamsterTK - One would have to wonder why Maggie would go, after the others make it sound like such a terrible place. As for Mary, I have a hunch she did not go there willingly - but I could be wrong.

homeandaway - Thanks very much - though as always I always remain my worst critic. But, if I worked on getting it as completely perfect as I wanted, no one would ever see these updates lol

sEAhAwk fAn121 - Hehe - I've been known to throw in some chilling things here and there 11.gif

Thanks much for looking, folks. It is appreciated.

And, as always, comments, critiques and questions are not only appreciated, but quite welcomed and encouraged.

    Take care.
