paris is such a beautiful city. reminds me at the 2 times I've been to paris myself. 4.gif

but it was quite difficult for me because I couldn't and still can't speak french because I chose latin instead of french at school.

so I was very dependent to my friends. 9.gif

it's like all the large cities in the world, cosmopolitan, varied and congested. If you seek an atmophere quieter you can visit province city like Strasbourg, Nantes, Bordeaux, Nancy, Toulouse, Nice, Reims...

I just don't see why so many Americans think Paris is so wonderful, it just  skanky, overpopulated  and has a terrible air quality... Not to mention it got some hidious modern architecture.

The buildings are also dirty as hell because of all the pollution from the cars.I also don't see why people have to drive like complete idiots there, haven't you ever heard of traffic rules ?

I just don't see the beuty in it, it's just overated and living on an old reputation.

American cities aren't that nice either. They are dirty, crime-ridden and smelly. People also carry guns, thats not a good thing.

Paris is just a big city like London Tokyo or New York

12 million inhabitants live here, this city has 5.5 million employees, 500,000 students...

Why so many people think that Paris is a city only for tourists.

Paris is a big economical city with a higher  GDP than most of World countries.

Paris is one of four global cities (London New York Paris Tokyo)

Actually the tourism is less than 3 % of Paris GDP.

Paris Metro carrying 5 million passengers per day and Paris RER over 3 million)

I have always had positive thoughts of Paris, I agree it is quite diverse, a large mixture of old and new architecture. It is a very large city, I have made numerous visits and I still have not been able to see it all. The metro system obviously is not perfect, but it is quite easy to use once you get going, and some of the newer lines show an impressive use of the latest technology.

Wow, 14 million it is a bit to high. It is not the Population of Paris metro but the population Paris metropolitain region (Le Bassin Parisien) with 16.7 million inhabitants in 1999

But actually Paris municipality has 2.1 million inhabitants, Paris city has 6.7 million inhabitants, Paris urban area has 10.1 million inhabitants and Paris metro area has 11.5 million inhabitants.

EDIt : 5 time the same post is a bit high isn't it ? 4.gif

Wow - awesome pictures, montrouge. I have to say: Madrid is nice, Rome is also quite attractive, but Paris is just amazing. You've captured the city so well. Are you enjoying summer heat there at the moment?

It is not my picture, those pictures was taken by a Canadian named kilgoretrout in summer 2006.

It took also pictures of London, Rome, Madrid and Lisbon. 4.gif

My camera is actually broken . 8.gif

Paris is a huge city, It is one of 4 global cities with New York, London and Tokyo.

Actually only Tokyo is not really a multicultural city but its street life is huge.

It's nice to see that Paris is a real city just like any other. Never been there myself, but surprisingly these pics make me more interested in Paris than I ever was before. Judging from the pics there's lots of people from the former colonies (N. africa, etc.)

Yes I love the city where I live.

Paris has not only people from the former french colonie.

It has aslo people from East Asia  : Chinese,  Korean , Japanese, Thai....

People from South Asia : Sri Lankan, Pakistani, Indian, Bengladeshi

People from Europe : Italian, Portuguese (Paris would be the third portuguese city after Lisbon and Porto) Spanish, Polish, Yugoslave...

The majority of Black, Arab, Asian... people in Paris are born in France and have the french nationality. (I am myself half black mixed race)

View of Paris main chinatown  (Paris has actually three chinatown maybe more)

Unlike that it like, these high rises are not cheap

It is because these buildings are not for low income, at 500 000 € for a 70m2 the majority of french can't afford an appartement here. 2.gif

Actually only the horizontal blocks are public housing.

These high rises was built for the upper middle class but it was not a big succces and chinese bought appartement at low prices.

Now this district is not the most expensive but it is not the most affordable.

Some high rises have private swimming pool in the last floor.  19.gif

The CBD of Paris, the empire of facadism.

Facadism is a method to build modern building inside an old facade.

It is actually one of biggest business district in Europe with 400,000 employes and 8 million m² 86 million sq ft  of office space  (16% of Paris total office space)
