Simtropolis is a region i made with the awesome tool SC4Terraformer by Wounagaine, for my first Simcitygame in about two years, enjoy the read 1.gif

Ive tried to upload it on the STEX but i get an error, maybe becouse my greyscaleimage is a .PNG-file. Anyhow il try again later if you want the map before than it can be downloaded here:

It needs to be imported into the SC4Terraformer and saved from there, i tried to generate it in-game but it suffered a heightproblem.

BACKSTORY

The region of Simtropolis lies on a westcoast of an ocean inhabited through millenias. The first inhabitants developed a flourishing and prospering civilisation enabled by the abundant resources in the region, their lifes very much based on loose paganistic ideas. But as time passed that all changed, first slowly, barely noticeable, tensions built up, and what was at first local intrigues grew to global extent.

  Quemi lived when the horror was about to culminate. The surname is not known, but is it important? Some of todays sims may say yes, some no, but whats for sure is that the unanimous statement by the sims in those days would be yes. Belonging was important, and instantly recognised by the surname. Quemi lived in a time when the exploited lanscapes where scattered by ever waging war, the thick polluted air a reckognizable feature of the greed of a few and the desperation of many. It seemed there was no end to it. In the midst of all darkness glowed a light of hope, a light of vision in Quemi. Who started the TSM Projects high in the mountains northwest of Simtropolis.

  The Solutionmayor Project was the knowledge of a trillion books, movies and lectures, and whats more important the visions and ideas of Quemi, all in one entity. To produce it would take centuries, during which the problems in simworld had subsided for natural reasons. The energy needed to create TSM was enough to feed whole nations for years, but also it would turn out to turn the horrendous state of the sims civilisation to a positive position. Quemi needed to be alive when TSM was done, to wake him up, to finish the creation. During the centuries of TSM Project Quemi froze himself at the top of whats now called Mount Quemi, the only mountaintop in Simtropolis to be covered with snow all year around. Highend technology monitored Quemi and the growing Solutionmayor during those times. When Quemi finally woke up he realised in fear that the awakening of his creation was only possible in a warmer climate and with plenyfull of water. To travel to the Simtropolis sea would take days and the lands where full of mines, undetonated weapons, traps and a handful of waring simgroups still wandering in the dreadfull Simtropolis. Quemi managed to set up contact with a satellite sent up by the FSSA (First Sims Space Agency) before the horror grew to the magnitude to prevent any normal life in Simworld. Scanning the lands of Simtropolis for a safe way to the ocean he found out to his great astonishment a large crater in the midst of the damaged forest. He was lucky to have survived the incident which very well could have put an end to both him and his project. Becouse the Crater was filled with water he started wandering through the forest to it, going past dried out  rivers. Finally safe at the crater, later named Crater Quemi, he set up everything needed to awake his creation in a cave near the water in the Crater, after awakening the fully conscious Solutionmayor Quemi gave his last instructions before leaving the world of Simtropolis for good, to be burried as wished beside the cave. The quemideveloped robots which had monitored the creation of TSM where with TSM during the first two decades of his life, as he managed to set up the first peaceful settlements in Simworld for decades, maybe millenias. Inspired by the visions of quemi, sims soon got together to start a new period in simlife history, a civilisation of developement, evolution and peace... in new Simtropolis.

PLAN

Observe that ive used names in different languages, which i can't speak, so they may be grammatically flawed

Also observe ive written that KTM is "easily recongized becouse of its green buildings". This is not correct. Its Pistevo which has a tradition of green (literally) buildings.

I may also upload my original drawings for the region which i did by hand and also on them are lots of notes, ideas and plans giving further insight into the regions history and contemporary status which im now building.

P.S. Reading this story i put together as a presentation for the region i realize just how kitsch it is xD . But i suppose il leave it.

    I use a tropicalterrain mod and also a caribean watertexture mod. Will send the first screenshots as soon as developement has started.

    Conclusions and futureplans:

    No snow rendered on the 3.8km high Mount Quemi 43.gif . It must have been the tropicalterrain mod. I may remove it but not sometime soon.

    UPDATE 3 | 21 february 2007 | Problems found and corrected - STC construction begun

    I have now rendered most part of the region and started with the constuction of Simtropolis City.

    I found two problems:

    - The water was to shallow along the beaches, only 0.5 meters which didnt look good at all in-game. I changed it to 10m depth in most places, however not around the atolls and other islands in souther ST, that would be to complex for now and im starting with the simtropoliscity area so its not important right now.

    - The terrainlevel in the lowest rainforest was to low to be able to make sunken highways. I found an alternative solution which u can see in the screenshots below. However in some parts of STC and in H2 the terrainlevel is high enough for sunken highways.

    This is what ive done:

    - Started with the infrastrucutre of Simtropolis city.

    This is what will be done next:

    - Infrastruture completed in STC, H2 and the farming city east of STC (note H2 and the farmingspecialised citie's are by me viewed as part of/suburbs to STC, and STC will import its electricity from the industrial area of H2. Which is why il have to construt H2 before STC, at least parts of it.

    - Elevated train built between STC, H2 and the farmingcity

    Nice region but is better to show the pictures bigger, copy the "Direct Link to image" in Imageshack.

    The situation is the same in H2 and soon also in Kyouei totomoni nachuraru. Seaportdevelopement has begun in H2.

    UPDATE 5 | 26 february 2007 | Developement in H2

    I decided to start with developing H2 as the neighbouring cities will rely on buying power and water as well as its garbageservices. In fact i see H2 as a part of the neighbouring cities in the "Simtropolis city" area.

    Here are some screenshots of how it looks so far, observe that the diagonal fillers i use dont always render fully on all zoomlevels

    H2 will have an smaller airport, but the main airport in the STC area will be in Kyouei Totomoni Nachuraru.

    All the industrybuildings around the tower near the seaport are part of the H2 company, producing hydrogen, one of ST's major exporting products. The "cementtanks" infront of the productionfacilites are meant to represent hydrogen storagetanks. Also part of the H2 company, just as the two ports in front of the tanks are, as they are rented full-time by the company. The ports to the east of the H2 ports are public ports.

    I havnt updated the thread, and really not played a lot. But Kyoei Totomoni Nachuraru is well developed, and ive made a custom airport which im very proud of, took me several days and it serves the whole Simtropolis city area (KTN, H2, Marine residence). Il bring screens later. Thx.

    UPDATE 6 | 11 JUNE 2007 | Airport finished in Kyouei Totomoni Nachuraru

    Here we go again 2.gif. Finally ive started playing again. This airport was actually finished some months ago. But here is the update anyhow. As you an see below its a totally custom made airport serving the whole Simtropolis City area.

    The airport is made up of a main terminal, a domestic one, one for international flights, two for private airplanes, one flightschool, one firedepartmentrunway, a freight station with trains going through and some municipal planes. There are two flight control towers; one main commercial one and one smaller run by the flight school.

    The airport is carefully thought through and ive tried to make it completely realistic as details are concerned, placement of runways, terminals etc. Im very proud of it as are the simtropolians.

    Conclusions and future plans

    As you can see i do have a lot of work to do to fulfull my plans, it will take months if not years, but this is an ambitious region. And i hope you will show interest in following its developement.

    If someone want the region map just pm me and il send you my game, and you can just demolish the cities etc. Or i can send you the renderingimage ve generated but if so youl have to modify some waterdepths becouse they where to shallow to begin with at the beaches.

    Ive started playing again after some months away from simcity. I will be writing an update soon. Ive rendered snow on the montainous region north of the eastern simtropolis rainforest 4.gif. Ive also revised KTN somewhat.
